This is not BS I know exactly what you mean, I know a few people like this including myself, for me it seems like every time I get down to around 200lbs the weight loss just stops no matter how much I lower my calories and then even when eating around 2000 a day it just creeps back up slowly until I'm 250+ again or more! and that's with ridiculous amount of exercise too.

Find an NP/MD who will restart you on the proper medication regimen and get your thyroid back in check. Once that is done, calorie deficit with strict tracking and see what happens.

Worst case scenario you lose 50lbs and stay at 350, which is still less taxing on your body than 400.

I don't think so. You don't need a degree in nutrition to spot trends. "Hey, I've been living on cigarettes and KFC and I feel awful. I wonder why? Maybe if I change something then how I feel will change, too?"

You need some nutritional knowledge to be big, strong and lean. But you don't need to know anything to avoid being obese. "Eat your vegies dear, and less cake," like your mum told you.

It's not hard to understand. The reptilian part of the human brain overrides the prefrontal cortex. Most humans are not so good at controlling their primal urges. We all know smoking is unhealthy, drugs, junk food, banging sloots, ect. But it feels good, it satisfies our urges. Most humans their urges and instincts overrides their logic.

A) I never said I had no desire to improve my body
B) I'd say the vast majority of threads on this site have nothing to do with BodyBuilding. At least not in the Misc or its sub-forums. Much of my posting history is either in the main Misc, the Tech forum, or the Political forum.

General public has 0 clue on how calories work. Its a simple concept, calories in, calories out, but it doesn't sell books or programs. Which is why it should be a class in school. Who cares how Egyptians removed organs, spend a semester on how diets work.

Don't bother lmao, I said the same thing including the laws of thermodynamics and he just went on saying it's impossible. To be clear, by "a desire" I mean something more than "a passing whim which I am too lazy to pursue." I mean something strong enough to act on.

Correct, it is to the shame and detriment of this site that there are more bullsht posts than about training and nutrition. And it is to the shame and detriment of you. Sitting on the computer making thousands of posts about nothing isn't helping you.

Destroy your own life, it's everyone's right as a human being to fck themselves up. But you're getting others down, too, your posts are discouraging people who actually want to improve themselves. Before posting again, consider this: is it true? is it helpful?

This isn't about welfare. It isn't about public health. Smokers and alcoholics cost society far more than the obese do. This is really about hate. People hate unattractive people. The obese are disgusting and repulsive to most people -- especially many of the more vain posters here. They will use any argument they can to rationalize their hatred. If you're obese, please realize that most of the people who claim to care on here actually do not care about your well being. Losing weight might make you healthier, but only if you do it the right way. These people will advocate that you starve yourself, develop an eating disorder, etc (think "biggest loser" type weight loss). They are not your friends. They do not want you to succeed. They want to goad you into killing yourself. They will continue to bully you until you psychologically break. That's the real nature of their "concern trolling".

There are two important steps that must be taken to reliably lose weight. The first thing is to be checked for metabolic issues, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, etc. These will ruin your attempts at weight loss, and will render conventional advice ineffective or possibly dangerous. The next step is to comprehensively analyze your diet, and permanently change it so that you consume a reduced, but still sustainable amount of calories, with a balanced macronutrient and micronutrient profile. You may add in exercise as needed, but it is not necessary purely for weight loss.

That's it. That's all it takes. Substitutions and careful meal planning. If you choose not to do this, you aren't a bad person. There is nothing awful about you. It just means you like to eat less healthy meals. In the long run, it is slightly worse for you, and could potentially shorten your life by about 5-10 years, possibly more if you develop obesity related complications (but remember these complications are only correlated with and not caused by obesity.) To this day, nobody understands why 90% of type 2 diabetes patients are obese. Note that the vast majority of obese patients still do not have diabetes. (Read those two statements carefully and try to understand what is being said. A review of Bayes' Theorem is in order for people who think the two words "obesity" and "diabetes" are synonymous.) Obesity is believe to be unhealthy, and we do know that the morbidly obese tend to die much earlier. We also know that being obese means you are considerably more likely to develop other diseases. That being said, there are bound to be a small number of people who will be extremely obese, just as there are a small number of people who are extremely underweight. Appetite signaling, psychological factors, metabolic status, and genetics play major roles in these things. If you are truly doing everything within reason to eat a healthy diet, exercise, and still cannot get below a certain weight, it is because that is your body's set point. Don't beat yourself up. The rest of the world will anyway. Give yourself a break.

I dropped from ~300 lb eating unhealthy garbage like soda, pizza, etc to eating mostly clean, whole foods. I exercise regularly. I lift. I am around 190-195 or so lb. I'm stuck at about 18-20% bodyfat. Dudes on here would call that "fat." People in real life won't turn heads and some may find that unhealthy. But they can go fuk themselves. I am eating healthy foods, and exercising. I am doing what I can, and I have reached a comfortable and sustainable weight. I am proud of the changes I have achieved (not the number, but the lifestyle and progress).

If you are fat, but you are trying, that's all that fuking matters. People will still give you chit about it. Don't listen to them.

I just want to stress this again. Being overweight doesn't mean you are a bad person. It doesn't mean you are lazy, undisciplined, etc. It means you failed to properly portion and plan meals OR it means you have a genetic difference that screwed your metabolism. That's it. That's all. There are tons of people who cheat in relationships, do drugs, fail exams, and hurt others. Nobody is perfect. Let he who is without sin cast the first motherfuking stone.

If you are making a genuine attempt at unfukking your situation, and have turned the part of your brain back on that realizes that you need to change, then you will never hear a negative word from me.

If you are like the whiner in this post where everything out of your mouth is cope or an excuse to maintain your level of shoving fried chicken down your gullet, then have fun using your toilet paper on a stick to wipe yourself and constantly smelling like a mixture of very old meat and very new cheese

The pic in the OP is an extreme example but do you know how many people (especially women) let themselves go to pot after getting married and popping out a kid or 2?

It's insane. And for those of us who've always been active and have enough self respect to not let it get to that point I think it's really hard to understand. Women will say having kids is to blame. Bullish. It's mission accomplished and now they can become fat lazy land whales and if you leave her now your life will be pretty much ruined and they know that.

BULLCHIT, it does mean you are lazy and undisciplined.

Failed to properly portion their meals? What portion of ice cream, mcdonalds and pizza do you think is right?

Genetics is such a lazy excuse, I though genetics played a role too when I saw my fat friends and I would get the same meal at a restaurant and they'd still stay fat. But once I came over to their house, it all made sense. Throughout 90% of the day they are munching on some candy or chips. They don't seem to realize how much they eat just by doing that. And of course none of them go to the gym.

The true issue isn't genetics, it's terrible parenting. Fat parents have fat kids not because of genetics, but because they give their kids the same chitty food and huge portions that they eat themselves, no chit their kids become obese. But if you're an adult and still obese, it's on you, you have so much info on how to lose weight online.

Well look it comes down to a lot of factors

Unfortunately for morbidly obese it usually comes down to their upbringing as children. Parents who fed them whatever they wanted to eat without much nutritional value. At an early age they can do long term damage as your body gets used to surviving from unhealthy foods

As they get older they continue to eat unhealthy foods as this all they’ve really known to eat most of their life. It’s very hard to make a switch from your usual diet to another diet even for us in the fitness community we stick to what we know works for us and deviating from it is very hard. Just think about someone who was accustomed to eating fast food meals daily as a child and becomes an adult. It’s not as easy as just stop eating that food and change your diet

Fortunately for a lot of us we have been active in sports in other physical activity early in our lives. If you talk to many of us on here im sure majority of us were provided a somewhat healthy diet as kids which we carried on into adulthood

It really comes down to the diet you received as children that you will carry on as an adult

As far becoming morbidly obese its not like one day these people just start eating so much they became that way. It’s been a lifetime of eating that way since a young child

Whenever I see these people I think they must not have had access to a somewhat healthy diet as children or their parents just didn’t care either way what they eat

You almost have to starve yourself to lose significant weight. It's not easy when you are looking at losing 50+ lbs. You can't just eat well 3-4 days a week and then binge on a pizza or some donuts. Chit is hard and takes a long time to lose significant weight
