Really hate Ron's decision not to go for it on that last 4th down. There was no chance the defense was going to keep the Bengals out of field goal range. Cam absolutely would have gotten the first down. We lost the game on that decision and only managed a tie because a kicker went FULL POTATO. So that's my ambivalence; never thought we'd win in Cinci, so happy we tied, but we played well enough to win but should have lost, so not happy.
i was screaming at my tv when ron decided to kick that fg. not riverboat ron like at all. especially when cam has been rushing the ball with ease all game and knowing that our defense is sturggling. but atleast we didn't get a L i guess.

Cam is becoming elite.

Our defense is no longer elite.

Burfict bitch ass tried to twist Cammy Cams ankle. Good on Cam not dropping him in the back like Smitty did 11 years ago to the Texans player. Cost us that game.

think about how the DL would be playing if we had the Kraken combined with how KK Short is playing

So are we just gonna win NFC South by default with an 8-7-1 record? Can't see us winning any of the next 4 games except for the Saints at home, but after that we play pretty bad/on our level teams.

if the Saints keep sucking, 8-7-1 should win the division and we shouldn't have issues against them in a few weeks. i think we have decent chances @GB and at home against Seattle, hopefully we can steal one of them. at this point, i don't see us winning in Philly though

My takeaways from today:
Our o-line looked surprisingly…decent. I don't know if they are just finally gelling, if it was Cam's mobility in and out of the pocket today, or a combination of both.

I love Gano, but today.. he really disappointed me. Missed the chipshot which came back to bite us.. And usually he's automatic for touchbacks. I understand it wasn't his fault pacman basically went untouched, but still. At least he did hit his other FGs.

Our D has to get the least pressure on opposing qbs in the league. We literally get picked apart by even average quarterbacks. If it wasn't for Luke and TD having to make superhuman efforts 9/10 times… we'd lose by 30 every game. And as great as those guys are, they can't do it by themselves every play.

I don't know how I feel about about a tie. I mean it's not a loss, but it's not a win. Luckily the rest of our division continues to **** the bed. But I really wish we went for it on 4th and 1… hindsight is 50/50 though.

The one thing I will say is people need to chill on Gano. People should be happy with a kicker being 85-90% and that's what he is. He missed a FG…no big deal.

This.

Missed most of the 3rd because I had to run to work. Caught the 4th (albeit was behind a bar so couldn't really focus..)

Burfict (sp) is a scumbag

Gano is still a keeper

Our defense sucks without Greg Hardy

Offense is among the best in the NFL when the o-line is even remotely competent; Cam as far as I'm concerned is officially in tier 2 territory. That's with the Brees / (prime)Big Ben / Romo'ish type guys.

I fail to see how the next several weeks are auto-losses, though. You can't really face a much better team than the Bengals at home. Their margin of victory going back like 8 games is >>>>>>> even Seattle. They were not only automatic at home; they were obliterating, dismantling teams @home.. and we played more than well enough to win. If the o-line stays clicking there isn't a team in the NFL we can't keep up with in a shootout.

Great point. Oh, except Tom Brady and the Patriots of course, who obliterated the Bengals in Cincinnati last weekend, 43-17.

Anyone else miss mike Mitchell? He was a hard hitting safety that played with a lot of passion and I feel like he gave our defense that edge. Also a great blitzer.

Atleast he and captain brought some toughness to our secondary.

I can't believe Harper is still starting for us he is ****inng slow and terrible

Mitchell is struggling in Pittsburgh

what I miss about Captain and Mitchell is that they had speed, our secondary is slower than molasses

So Mike Williams?

he would be a perfect number 2, the problem is how much do the Bills want in return and his cap hit next year is kind of big for panthers standards

No thanks Jeff. No reason to give up draft picks when WR isn't really a need right now.

Just don't see the need to spend a draft pick and salary cap space when KB, Cotchery, Avant aren't an issue and there's some potential with Bersin and Brown. We need that cheap labor.

bersin looks solid. i hope he flourishes and becomes a really good WR. i really like fozzy too. i was wondering where he went in the 2nd half of that game but i guess his hammy flared up. i hope he starts again next week and i hope we can sustain long, time consuming drives to keep the ball from ayayron this sunday.

Like I said most of our late round pick usually don't amount to anything so why not? his cap hit this year is only 1 million. Cotchery is ok but he gets no separation Cam has to throw him open most of the time. For once I would like to see Cam with a deep threat

And let be real our defense isn't gonna get any better so might as well boost the offense

Which is very disappointing considering how much hope we (well, at least I did) had in him. He played soo damn well to close out his rookie season. Legit thought he would be downright NASTY. Obliterate everyone in the run game.

The good news is you can see over in Dallas how quickly you can transform an OL. And typically it's a position that has quite a few vets and decent journeyman looking for their last contract in the off-season.

I don't really like all the 8-7-1 claims.

We tied, and probably should've beaten Cincinnati at their place. Sure no AJ green but our offense did great against a great defense.

With the way the league looks right now, we could easily win out this season. Cam played incredible last time he played Green Bay, revenge game against Seattle, and then the rest of the games we are playing teams that we are more talented than or just flat out performing better than.

Sure, any given Sunday applies, but we can realistically win any game from here on out. Are we? Probably not. But don't rule us out.

The outlook for this team should be nothing except positive. Where the defense has dropped, the offense has picked up, and with all the youth on offense, we should still continue to improve while the defense fixes up what they need to.

There's no need for negativity yet.

If we win in Green Bay we should be considered as a team ready to make a run in the playoffs.

That is all. Not losing this game might be the best thing to happen to us this season.

I agree on the positivity. As a group we tend to focus on the negative more (call it constructive criticism ). I agree we can win every game, but I think it's realistic we'll end up with 9ish wins. Teams with accurate passers will shred the secondary and our defense will basically have to hold on for FGs. Our offense can definitely play with anyone.

Football Outsiders ranked Cam as the 3rd best QB in week 6 behind Flacco and Brady. Good stuff.

While I agree that our pass d is the worst, we've beaten two very prolific passing offenses. We've seen it all in that regards. After Cams breakout game against cinci, and with more than half our rbs and wrs being productive no names, teams still will have difficulty planning for our offense. The second half against Chicago might have been the turning point for our offense.

While our overall defense is not what we expected it to be, the main thing that upsets me is the amount of big plays we've let up. If we stop giving those up I think we can take 10 to 12

The Bengals were without there top W/R and still you only tied them because there terrible kicker missed a 36 yard chip shot as time ended.
