Not hating on OP, but if he’s doing a dead hang he gets 4 maybe 5

Yeah the rep count goes way down when you do it more slow and controlled, also you get stronger and look less retarded

Nice, zero proper pull ups were seen that day

I actually always wonder what kind of form people use when they claim 10+ pull ups. With strict form (legs full extended the whole time and no swinging), pull ups are challenging.
If you're just learning and not strong enough to do them properly you can try going faster to use momentum, or swinging your legs a bit to get up, but it's certainly nothing to brag about and should only be used as a pŕogression to real pull ups

When I started lifting I saw some huge guy doing pull ups with his legs mostly straight but crossed at the ankles. Looked epic at the time. Bro science logic was: he's huge and he's doing pull ups that way, so it must the right way to do it. Pretty much been doing it that way since. It's strict enough because it makes the lower body dead weight during the movement.

One way I found that really helps in just a few weeks is doing some super slow pull ups, especially during the entire concentric phase since it's much easier to do slow negatives. After a few weeks of slow finger tip pull ups on a ledge, it felt like I was in zero gravity when I did regular ones on a bar
