If you make it to 100 you must be doing something right. I'd gladly accept your advice. Even at 70.

EDIT: srs question to OP. If my passion is making music, like 100% music, so much that I have dropped out of school for now (I am also fortunate enough to be extremely financially stable due to my lifestyle and decisions I have made.), and I feel like I will regret it and be depressed doing anything else. Would you feel it is in my right interest to make music? I am 22 now, and am willing to do this til I am 35 before I quit(edit: scratch that, I wouldn't quit). It is the one thing that keeps me from falling into severe depression. Thanks, and great thread.
You can't make music and go to school too? What's your Plan B?

Sorry OP, I couldn't help myself.

OP, if I could go back to 20yo me and have a talk, I bet I'd come back to a better world for myself. First I would tell me to build a good reputation, but stop caring what other people think, especially people who don't matter or are insignificant. If someone tries to bring you down, it's because it's the only way they know how to prop themselves up, and to really examine who they are and if they are someone you admire or would like to be like, and if the answer is no, disreguard them. Second would be to always advance. Look at where I am now, think of a year ago and make sure there is distance, not to become stagnant in comfort zones.

Do you think the opposite holds true generally?

Also, what would you do in a case where your (trying-to) being nice to people outright irritates/bores you and doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever?

I appreciate the offer, old timer, but the day that I need advice about what activities I should engage in at the senior citizen parlor is a long time from now. Also, isn't typing unhealthy for you given your higher chance of suffering carpal tunnel?

Yes and no. There are people that will respond well, most people, but there are those that emulate dark triad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_triad) and will try to manipulate and control others. Learn the difference and you should be ok.

Here's something I noticed: people like to run their mouths. And when they get called on it, or they realize they fumbled the ball, instead of manning up and taking responsibility for their inappropriate comment, they say "I was just kidding"

You're fat- "I was just kidding"
You're ugly- "I was just kidding"
You're really old-"I was just kidding"
You're really stupid- "I was just kidding"

People like to denigrate others

GUARANTEED SUCCESS= point everything toward your goals. That means dont be counterproductive in your downtime.

Example 1- your goal is to be muscular/fit/lean. Don't eat pizza and ice cream all day long on your day off. You can eat one meal and probably be ok.

Example 2- your goal is a LTR. Be the kind of man that adds value to a LTR. Don't sit around watching pr0n (which is denigrating to other human beings) and then expect yourself to have a good attitude/outlook when a potential LTR person comes around.

CLIFFS- You have to behave as if you have already become successful in the areas you want to be successful, if you really want to achieve success.

You're welcome MISC.
