Have a friend I look up to. Guy is very intelligent, holds dual engineering degrees, tall, athletic, is a typical CHAD in the sense of getting women easy.

But he has told me about how he was abused as a child and how that has traumatized him and has affected his relationships with women. Been through two divorces. Wants to start a family and have kids. He is in his late 30s. You'd think on the outside he has EVERYTHING figured out but **** everyone needs empathy and counseling at times.

Someone told me recently "It's OK to not be OK". Everyone goes through things. Stoicism only goes so far and I have the biggest pokerface.

Disagree...I'm not a sociopath and I felt no need to seek support in the death of family members and after being informed my daughter would have life long disabilities. I come from a different generation and time, however. I was raised to just deal with it.....

My father also made me cut grass with scissors in the mid summer Gerorgia sun when I f***ed up....again different place and time.

I'm skeptical to be honest.

I'm similar to your friend (apart from having ADHD symptoms, and not accomplishing much as a result). My childhood trauma has royally phucked up my relationships, I tend to shut down when genuine feelings start flowing after the initial excitement of a relationship. My ex found it incredibly frustrating - I don't blame her for initiating a divorce, I just wish the timing was better.

These issues aren't easily fixed.

A promising model for resolving the issues can be found (your friend might be interested) in this book (it starts off slow, but I think it's a brilliant read);



The guy had a similar problem, he kept phuckin up his relationships. Finally he went through a program designed by a woman called 'lorraine' which is doing approx 10 different therapies for about 3 months at a time. The plan was to try to heal the trauma from multiple angles, so that the accumulative effect would heal his trauma completely. The standard model from the mainstream is to stick with one form of therapy for years on end, which doesn't tend to work for most people in regards to complete healing.

The unconventional method worked for him, and he is now married with a child.

As homo as this sounds, I can relate to a lot of that **** but will never act on it. I remember I was living with my ex gf at the time and my family member died. I vividly remember going to bed that night wishing she would just hold me (no homo) Felt like I couldn't express myself and remember sneaking off for the rest of the week to be with my own thoughts. Felt like I was completely alone in the world and had to deal with the lose myself. Also remembet not even being able to see my mother because I could not contain my emotions and didn't want her to see me cry.

Basically I dissappeared for two weeks and re-emerged when I could "act like a man". That's how I was taught. My dad has never told me how he "felt" in his life. It's tough.

Luckily I have a childhood buddy who's across the world but we still chit chat about life's real problems.

Careful with that logic; eggs still need sperm to fertilize and women also need men to protect and provide during pregnancy and childrearing. But I do essentially agree that sperm are plentiful, and it's atrade of resources for access to eggs.

All of the guys' points have some logic behind them, but there's also nothing anybody can do about them, and there's no point in crying about them. At the end of the day you have to face reality, it doesn't matter what you think/how things are, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, all that matters is what is. Existence is more important than essence. At the end of the day, you have to suck it up. And I would always rather be a guy than some fkn sloot who has absolutely no self worth, has to put up with greasy FAs etc.

2. How utterly socially alone we are sometimes

Again, this is stated as if it's a BAD thing. I'm gonna straight up summarize passages from one of the GOAT books of all time 'letters to my son'... the key difference between loneliness and solitude. loneliness is being alone in an empty room, and at the same time being aware of the things around you... in loneliness, a feeling/sense of separateness from those things, and yourself is experienced. In loneliness, the word "I" resonates, because it creates the contrast against the 'things around you'...the more aware you become of these things, the smaller you feel... In solitude, you are also alone... but there is one key difference... there is no 'separateness', there is no "I" . You do not become the center of everything... instead, you become 'one with the space around you'... you sit quietly, and in the process you feel bigger... solitude has no words, or time... it's simply a feeling of peace with yourself. Solitude lifts you up, while loneliness pushes you down... note, that both examples involve sitting quietly in a room... but you'll experience EITHER loneliness, or solitude... the choice is yours. Being socially alone sometimes is not always a bad thing...

3. If youโ€™re with kids, people assume youโ€™re a ****phile

I'm starting to notice a trend here. Another statement which is poorly phrased. What if I changed it to this:If you're with kids, people assume you're a ****phile...but that's their problem, not mine. Sucks that they have to live cynical lives, must take them a lot of energy!In other words, if you're gonna live your life worrying about what 'others' assume...then GOOD LUCK TO YOU MY FRIENDS! I'll be the first to admit, I was like this myself...always worried about what others might think about me...but then I realized life is much easier when you stop worrying what others think, and focus on yourself...

4. Men live in a world where you are constantly unwanted, rejected, and outright feared, just for existing

I'm gonna be clear on this: Crystal fcuking clear, because I've been here before (srs). People will reject you. It's gonna happen. And it could potentially fcuk you up in the long term if you're sensitive...But the only advice I have here is, do not reject YOURSELF...in fact, do the opposite. Treat yourself better! Get help if you need to...nothing wrong in seeing a good therapist. It CAN help. What I don't like about the statement in this one, is that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. If your 'life script' readsall i know is rejection, then that script will play out no matter what you do. But if you change that life script, then you can make real changes where it matters, internal changes in how you think and behave (reference: 6 pillars of self esteem... do the sentence completion exercises)

5. Women constantly attack us, and weโ€™re not allowed to complain

either you're meeting/attracting the wrong women (which is a high probability). or you don't realize that you have the painfully obvious right not to take abuse. on a date? just get up and leave. in a relationship. get out of it. you have the right to have zero tolerance for when girls act abusive (verbally or physically). YES, you are allowed to complain. who the fcuk said your'e not? let me guess, women right? make your own rules.



I haven't read the rest of them yet, but this is taking a lot longer than i thought. I'll go through them later, but if it's any guess, then i know they will follow the same pattern as above.

Honestly, compared to the chit many of the women i've met in my life have to go through regularly, this is nothing.
