We're omnivores. Am I the only vegan on this forum that understands this? This is not a convincing argument to use is this debate.

Nobody cares that we do something that our body wasn't designed for because we do 100 other things that our bodies weren't designed to do.
Animals that stray from the diet they are meant to eat usually get sick and die prematurely. That's why so many zoo animals are sicker than their wild relatives. You can't feed elephants cow milk or sloths cooked veggies for long periods of time without making them sick, and most animals eating unnaturally die young.

But I guess according to your logic we can get away doing unnatural things like ingesting literal ****( rotting corpses) because we can create and do things other animals can't?

Lol. Now I am really talking to a kindergartener.

Don't be so combative on this point, UACdarknova is right on this, though I don't agree with most of the stuff he's posted in this thread.

Theoretically humans can survive off anything. I bet a human can live off of vodka and skittles for years. Doesn't mean it's the ideal and optimal diet.

And no, we are not omnivores. If you want to count dead insect parts in our fruits, veggies and grain then sure we could be classified as omnivores.

Please educated yourself before spreading false information

But we do get away with it. Lots of meat eaters live long lives. Are they risking their health by doing so? Yes probably to some degree.
But go back and read my earlier post about risk. We all risk things. Risk is life. Crossing the street is risk.
It's up to you to decide what level of risk you're comfortable with.

For instance, I don't eat much red meat. I try to keep it to a minimum. But once in a while I'll eat a steak. Is this a small risk? Sure. Am I ok with that risk? Yup.
When I lift weights there's a risk that I'll drop the bar on my chest, crack my sternum and die.
When I fly in a plane there' a risk of a crash.
Risk risk risk risk. That's life.

I'm not afraid that instead of living until 90 I might only make it to 85. That doesn't worry me. And that's why it's a silly thing to focus on.
If you want to convince somebody not to eat meat (or at least not to buy it from a grocery store) then focus on the cruelty in the factory farming involved. That's a strong way to draw somebody in. Trying to frighten people with the horrors of eating eggs isn't going to do chit for your cause.

Stop getting emotional and trying to insult me and actually listen to what I'm saying.

That doesn't mean we're not omnivores. If you said we're much better equipped to digest plants, which is the crux of your point, you'd be right. But you're going one step too far by saying we're herbivores.

But true herbivores have much longer intestines than humans do. Our intestine length is between carnivores and herbivores. Like you might expect a....omnivore to have.

No we're not... we have enzymes to digest meat, our intestines aren't as long as herbivores, and we can't digest cellulose.

The definition of omnivore to help you out... "Omnivore /ˈɒmnivɔər/ is a consumption classification for animals that have the capability to obtain energy and nutrients from materials originating from plant and animal origin." Surely you aren't arguing that we can't obtain energy and nutrients from meat?

Also, OP says all plants have complete proteins which is false. He also says that protein quality is better in plants than animal products which is wrong too.

Humans can thrive off a 100% plant based diet without any corpse flesh or dairy. Addition of animal products to our diet is completely unnecessary and actually harmful. It's been proven by world renown scientists like Dr. Campbell who've studied nutrition 3 times longer than you've been alive. I think I'd rather listen to them than some fake vegan trying to create his own quasi school of thought. Humans are omnivores, you say? lol please. In b4 some retard comes in saying Campbell's work has been debunked by some article written by feminist english major blogger ( a.k.a denise Minga).

Hypothetically, let's say you are right and we are .01% omnivorous. That still doesn't justify having to slaughter over 100 billion animals each year for it while simultaneously destroying the environment and other human lives. It's a completely wasteful practice and you know it. What are you trying to prove? what is your agenda by labeling humans as omnivores, especially as a vegan?

Calling for moderation for meat is equivalent to calling for moderation with tobacco smoking. Fk your habits if they harm others. It's like a heroine/coke addict in rehab asking for 1 more hit before he quits. You know it's bad yet want to continue doing it because you are a weak minded sub human beta.

Do you realize you're basically condoning this illogical/insane practice? Your argument is counterproductive and achieves nothing especially because humans can thrive off plants and live longer without any animal products.

in any case, at the end of the day all that matters is what i do with my body. I am happy with the vegan diet and feel healthier on it. Knowing that my meals actually fight cancer and promote health and doesn't promote the growth of disgusting cancer later in my life is good enough for me. I plan to transition to healthier forms of veganism like incorporationg more raw fruits and veggies and less cooked food.

You guys have fun with getting your arteries clogged with dead cow pus and corpse fat and your colon cancer goals.
I am out.

I was vegetarian for 7 months. Felt amazing and your stomach never feels better but I had one problem. I lost muscle mass.

I am now combining vegetarian foods with real meat and I put on 44lbs.

No ****. Do you actually think I'm justifying factory farming? My other posts in this thread make it clear that isn't the case. You stated that we aren't omnivorous. That's factually incorrect. I probably agree with 99% of your arguments on this subject, but the 1% I disagree with you on (because what you stated is provably false) causes you to sperg out and try and discredit me despite being one of the only people in this thread showing the ability to hold a nuanced opinion instead of caving to tribalism, and commiting to defending the arguments of the team you're on whether or not they are wrong.

Given that we evolved from primates (and are just advanced primates ourselves) and that our DNA is 99.4% the same as the bonobo, I don't think humans are biologically designed to eat large mammals like pigs, sheep, and cows. Eggs, fish? Perhaps. While we may be omnivores, in no way are our biological adaptations (teeth, internal organs etc) consistent with that of other mammals who consume large quantities of mammalian flesh.
LOL, we did not evolve from primates. What do you think? Some primates just haven't evolved yet?

Yes, you're likely one vegan here who understands that. There's no scientific debate what so ever at this point humans are omnivores, but vegans follow the "don't confuse us with facts" approach on most topics, not unlike any cult.

I make a pretty good sum of money with my own business( non art-related) and it's only growing every year. Lol have fun with your ****ty logo design job. You're probably as poverty as an Indian on odesk

Lol at thinking we're designed to eat meat. I truly hope you continue believing in that. Hopefully cancer will catch up with you soon.

Like most vegans, you're clueless and have not even a basic understanding of human biology or physiology. It only makes vegans look that much dumber when they hold onto long debunked vegan mythology. From John McArdle, Ph.D., an anatomist, primatologist and a vegan:

"Humans are classic examples of omnivores in all relevant anatomical traits. There is no basis in anatomy or physiology for the assumption that humans are pre-adapted to the vegetarian diet. For that reason, the best arguments in support of a meat-free diet remain ecological, ethical, and health concerns."

This is the tribalism I mentioned earlier. There's just as many retarded arguments against veganism in this thread as there are for it, I could just as easily say the omnivores in this thread have a "don't confuse us with facts" attitude as well.

anyone can claim to be vegan and create some dumb site spreading false info. Is that an angelfire website?

who the fk is john yordle anyway? I listen great minds like dr. colin campbell, mcdougall, and eselstyn who have a track record of reversing their patients' debilitating illnesses, not some poverty nobody like John Yordle. Iam pretty sure if eating animal products gives us cancer, then technically that would classify us as herbivorous.

And you'd be wrong. I could say the earth is flat, and I'd be wrong. I'm waiting for an authoritative source that claims humans are not omnivores. It does not exist because it's not correct, and there's zero debate within the scientific community on that fact, hence what I supplied from a vegan web site. If vegans want anyone outside their cult to take them seriously, they need to stop using totally debunked mythology.

Ignorance is not an excuse, nor does emotions and opinions alter reality.
