I feel the parents should be responsible for damages. Their negligence lead to the death of a special animal.
The trial lawyer in me though would just question the fence and the zoo wouldn't consider pursuing damages.

It actually f*cking disgusts me that people would let a fellow human being die like that, let alone a small child.
I didnt read the whole thread but my assumption is that everyone upset by this is due to the fact this cudve been prevented if the mother watched her child since this rarely happens.

Though this has never happened at that zoo until now, the zoo cudve taken better preventative measures and prepare themselves for dumbass parents like this one.

My child won't ever go to a zoo. It's called a safari, or watch fuking animal planet.

I lost my cool when a date and I went to a fair and they had a petting zoo with these little animals pacing back and forth in time confinements so dumb kids could pet them. I told the management I'll be writing to the newspaper about it. Sure enough, was in the local news and they got ALOT of chit for it.

I hate zoos. Had sad feels when i saw these beautiful bison in a picture shoot overlooking Montana and the wide open range, only to look above me and see them in midwest Chicago zoo standing around while white people took pictures of them. That was sad.

I'm not forgetting that. I'm saying that if you watch the video with Jambo and compare, there are two different outcomes. In both videos, zero signs of threat are shown. Why are we to believe in this case it would have been different, and the gorilla was suddenly snapped?

Sure, it could have snapped but it also might not have, and primate experts, previous interactions with gorillas plus his body language all tells us the latter is more likely.

If you're actually a trial lawyer you'd know that the fact the kid ended up in the enclosure in no way demonstrates negligence by the mother.

Now they probably didn't have a lot of options, but let's be honest, they shot him because they knew might be held liable, not because the kid was in actual danger.

I hope the parents are forced to pay some sort of fine, or the fee for replacing the gorilla.
u wot m8?

Liable for what? Oh right, liable for any injuries or death of the child. So really, the zoo shot the gorilla to prevent injury or death

That was bad wording on my part. What I meant was that it wasn't the only option they had, considering that the danger didn't warrant the gorilla getting shot.

Well, they couldn't tranq it, and they had tried luring it out, and while that was successful for the other gorillas in the enclosure, the gorilla with the kid wouldn't leave.

That doesn't leave many other options that don't unnecessarily put the kid at risk.

I feel bad for the gorilla, the parents are dumbfuks, but the fact is the child was alive and even though some time had passed and no harm (visibly) was done to the child, you cant predict a fuking gorilla.

fukin lol (in a sad way). Just watched the vid. That Gorilla wasn't even doing anything. He was like just waiting with the kid for a Zookeeper to arrive peacefully.

He was probably just expecting someone to come get the kid he was watching and waiting.

Im sure the Gorilla wasn't even expecting to get shot.

His body language was like "can someone please come get this kid so I don't have to baby si..."
