You're using a computer.

Logic:

Even assuming an absurdly slow rate of advancement, we'll be making simulations 10000 years from now which isn't even a long time. Using a more realistic rate of advancement, it'll be in like 20-40 years.

Then there will be simulations inside those simulations, and simulations in those...

The odds of us being in the real reality are then lim n-> inf: 1/n. That's 0.

So, we're living in a simulation.

So if we are becoming aware that we are in a simulation does that mean we are AI that has become aware?

does that mean i am the terminator?

and as for the OP, now that you're off of your DMT trip if there was any truth to it (and since it was about 15 years ago) I'd say that major event was 9/11.

I mean, thats not to say America is the center of the world, but that event made a huge impact on how everybody looked at the world.

Also, I still don't understand the simulation theory. If we're just a simulation, then i'm assuming that everything in our observable universe is also a part of the simulation as well....so what is outside of the universe controlling the simulation?....and whatever space our universe is currently expanding into does that space have a boundary (and so on and so forth)?

OP's entire post was VERY GOOD, and deserves a discussion. We need to start pondering about our existence more.

Eh, my first husband's theory was that we started on Mars. We wrecked the place so then we came here and stole if from the dinosaurs I guess.

He otherwise didn't seem any nuttier than average.

The idea that sequential events (time) is an illusion because our brains can't cope, that's enough of a mind bender.

First of all, realize that we live inside of a simulation much like the Matrix. The difference is that in the Matrix, the people in the simulation at least have real physical bodies plugged into the Matrix; our entire beings are in the simulation.

About 15 years ago, there was a nuclear holocaust that eliminated human life on the planet. I'm not sure if anyone survived but it was at least a virtual extinction. The mass experience of death and emotion caused something in our simulation to crash or triggered something in the program. There was some kind of mass awakening. Most of us experienced the flesh burning off of our bodies and being vaporized. We were all still aware post-death.

We saw the complete destruction of human civilization forever and existed in that reality for a little bit. Some of us were surrounded in nothing but pure white light after being vaporized. Then, everything rematerialized in front of us back to normal. This was our simulation rebooting.

I think that our mass awakening triggered something in the simulation and caused it to do like a system restore. I'm not sure what the implications of that are. I think that our simulation has a certain goal and that we were not supposed to destroy ourselves before accomplishing it.Once we do accomplish it, I'm not sure if that's good for us or if the simulation just shuts off.
If that is the case, then I will do whatever is in my power to make sure that this simulation never ends

The absolute only explanation is that maybe there are European or different versions of the book that were translated as stein. I'll accept that fact that I was a stupid kid, there were a lot of things I mispronounced but I have no idea why the Stein/stain thing resonates with so many people. I read the books in elementary school in class and I remember my teachers always correcting us when we misspelled a word, and the name of those bears was never an issue.

Now, I don't think there's anything as ridiculous as a parallel universe that has caused the displacement, but I have yet to find a single person (even people that were adults in the 90's) who remember it as "stain"

I am a big supporter of Musk, but I would like to know the probability theory behind the "one in billion" figure. Seems like the probability is dependent on your prior beliefs, which is subjective. In other words, what precisely makes simulation theory more likely than other theories? I'm not religious, but this is a philosophical question in its essence, so I'm really curious how Elon has some probabilistic calculations for it.

I know it's Elon, but I think he just pulled that number out of thin air because it sounds impressive and moving when said on TV
