That's why they're fat lol. Sugar is fine, it's the fact that it's the only macro nutrient in soda in a excess, and doesn't fill you in even the slightest. Pretty much empty unnecessary calories.

When I have high GI carbs that insulin spike has me hungry again a couple hours later.

I used to drink soda all the time in high school before I got into lifting. I think the lifestyle associated with the gym promotes all around health. Unfortunately a small % of people go to the gym, so they continue drinking soda.
That and if you don't drink water regularly it doesn't taste great coming from soda. You just get used to it. Now I drink just coffee, water and juice and occasionally sweet tea or soda with liquor.

There's this fat lady at my work and the first thing she does is have a drink of coke, ice tea or w.e the fuk.
She can lose so much weight by just cutting that ish out. But theres a reason peasants stay peasants.

I'm surprised people drink soda daily. The only time I ever have it is when I get fast food at like a drive thru.

Switching to no caffeine save for pre workouts. Was huge into diet soda but putting that aside to see how I feel off caffeine. Except for Sprite Zero and vodka pre game going out, but that's caff free

I can't fathom how people who obviously have a weight issue decide to drink regular soda? That's literally hundreds (thousands?) of empty calories you could cut weekly without feeling any less full. Like- zero effort or sacrifice required.
If you're in shape or even a few pounds overweight, whatever, go for it. But keeping up with the large Dr Pepper with every meal when you're so large that breathing is hard. Wtf?!

Back when I was obese at 350lbs I made the switch from regular soda to diet soda.
I lost 50 lbs in under 2 weeks - would recommend to anyone.

Black iced tea w/ lemon homie, no sweetener.
People could easily switch to Crystal light water and still get that sweet taste they crave. Personally I like bitter drinks like tea or black coffee, or I've developed a taste for them anyways. There's also almond milk, or you can make flavored water by adding fruits/vegetables to it(cucumber, lime, berries, etc) for lower calorie drinks.
Soda is only a once in a while thing, if you're getting a big greasy burger or need something to smooth the taste of your whiskey(*******).

Are you mad or just stupid enough to fall for what it says on the can?
Both are as bad as each other.

I switched to soda water.
It hits the spot in terms of fizziness.

Honestly I think most people don't even realise drinks have calories. I always knew they did but when I was overweight I was guilty of not realising just how many. Remember it made me stand and repeatedly wtf when I realised I was getting ~800 calories a day from the soda I was drinking alone. Literally switching to diet soda is probably enough to get a lot of people from a surplus into a deficit and start them losing weight, and honestly just drink pepsi max if you're a cola fan - that chit's just as good as the non-diet ones imo, arguably even better.
I only really bother drinking regular soda now for pure carb calories, since it's easier than eating extra.
Also as for the people saying diet soda is just as bad - it is, health wise - but calorie wise the sweeteners used in place of sugar don't provide any energy to the body and so they are mostly calorie neutral. So if your goal is weight loss it's the lesser of two evils.
