agreed, i stopped ego lifting a few months ago.. it just kinda hit me that there was no point in benching tons of weight except for getting stronger because with that comes injuries and chit, I'm not a powerlifter either. The only exercises I do go heavy on are deadlifts just because i find those fun. I've had a lot better results with my gains doing lightweight stuff anyway

100%%% agreed, blows my mind how many people dont understand this.

however there is nothing wrong with a strength component as the first excercise to prime the cns if you will/help break plateau's even if its a simple 35. Especially for natties

I disagree, don't know if this is broscience but this is what i feel and have experienced;
A natural lifter should work out for strength. It's not stroking ones ego, but lifting heavy in the compound movements will yield a much bigger strength gain than focusing on every little movement doing cable flys and leg press. Strength is a factor when trying to get bigger naturally, the increasement of strength will allow for the recruitment of more muscle fibers in the long run.

But i think the key word here is natural...
fruitfulness, beauty and dignity

The problem is people don't understand what it is. The easiest way to explain it is flex/contract a muscle while under tension. Tension can be produced by weights, cables, bands, machines, etc. There is a huge difference in moving weight and squeezing/contracting a specific muscle while moving that weight. For me it took someone literally touching my back while I was performing a lift and telling me to contract/squeeze where they were touching and relax everywhere else. So for a back exercise it was essentially relax the arms completely and just hook the handle, flex the back and the back only. This is the reason why a lot of BBers only use partial ROM. Because at a certain point your using secondary muscle groups and are losing tension on the target area.

People here MMC and just write it off as BS because they've never been shown what it is. One day a light-bulb will go off though. It doesn't mean you can't progressively over-load and get heavier weights moved using that technique. But if you get smashed using 25% the weight you normally use, most people will never want to drop down that much because of ego.
Yeah, it took me years to understand what it truly was. It is not about moving the weight, it is about squeezing and contracting the muscle which will in turn move the weight. When I learned to isolate my mid-upper back it finally clicked for me. Someone actually had me do something similar to what you're describing.

I agree with OP. I've hit all my strength goals I could want and I've nearly maxed out my natty genetics so there's no point in going heavy and risking injury anymore for me. Only goal I care about anymore is cutting to 8-10%

Good post OP. I should have started training this way a long time ago, I main some pretty good strength gains for my size but never really put on much size. About Feb/Mar of this year i decided to go down to weights I have not lifted since highschool and maximize reps/contraction. Kinda amazed about the comments ive gotten already since ive started training this way.

You disagree with setting aside your ego?

I wish some of you would read the thread or properly interpret the message.

I never once said you SHOULDNT do Dumbbells or barbell, only that there are very effective alternatives and that your ego can often hurt you.

Goddamn miscers cherry picking bits and pieces of a message just so that they can say they disagree when that wasn't even a point I trying to debate.

Man miscers are cherry picking because the lifting community is finally growing up.

We are fuking tired of non natties.

You guys set unrealistic expectations, promote body image issues, and a large majority suffer from those as well.

Aside from that you have the audacity to tell the natties how to lift.

Listen, what works for you doesn't necessarily work for us.

Some 18 year old kid who wants to bodybuild is going to read this thread. He's going to see you optimal lighting avi, see that you promote doing a bro split with high volume and littleregard for a decent progression scheme.

Volume is not the main instigator for muscle growth for natties. It is progressive overload.

Your example workout of you doing a bunch of different exercises in the 10 rep range or higher with multiple dropsets is NOT optimal for natties. It should be used sparingly.

TL;DRUltimately, you are saying that lifters should use intuition and keep an open mind to build muscle. There is nothing wrong with that. However, with natties especially, it NEEDS to be clear that high volume low frequency bullchit workouts in a 10-16 rep range is NOT ideal. There is even room for injury because sterons dont strengthen our connective tissue so we cant get away with abusing the smith machine.

Life got you down? That's not a problem, let the forums of bodybuilding.com become your outlet. Where you can make nasty and hateful comments at random strangers over the Internet while acting high and mighty 24/7.

You come off so bitter and salty as if I've somehow personally hurt you, what have I done to precipitate this ignorant outlash? Is there room in your cold heart for forgiveness?

op is a mesomorph....he can put on muscles, no matter what exercise he's doing but he also has a hard time cutting fat

-for us guys with fast metabolism

...eat, compound movements + accessories work, progressive overload = results
