Maybe in your circle most people have gotten to the stage where the host just pays.

To be honest, no offence, but at 32, you'd think a couple of hundred for a night hosted at your house is no big deal.

It would be nice to offer though I agree.

they probably products of one night stands with chitty immoral & selfish parents that never taught them respect, appreciation, manners and other general human behaviours we take for granted from the early 20th century

millennials have everything given to them, state & media educated and raised, zero hard times or life experience... what would you expect?

agree OP, i was with a friend of mine i've known for many years since middle school, he's a NEET with nothing going for his life, no studying, social activies, job prospects etc, but anyway. I visited his house and asked his mother to if i could borrow 50 cent (literal 50 cents), i think for the subway pass i think it was, she replies with - "No problem just pay me back ok". I mean seriously it's just 50 cents man who does that srs, i've known her for awhile too.

Its far easier to have friends in your teens and in college then late 20s and 30s. Once everyone gets married, has kids, is wrapped up in career, etc. hobbies and hanging out with friends goes out the window.

Unless we're talking about a multi millionaire OP who throws house parties/gatherings and tells people bring nothing just show up. Its pretty much common courtesy to offer to bring something.

GF is my only friend now pretty much, cut out all the *******s who show up when they need help moving or invite to a stag and dough to raise money for their disgusting marriage, sucks srs.

Friends (also people / acquaintances) are more genuine in school when everybody is broke af and just cares about partying and fukkin around.

Unfortunately that's people these days (at least people under 35 or so).

We're living in the most selfish, self-absorbed era in human history. Most young people have little to no social graces and/or don't give a fuk about chipping in or paying their fair share. They're only their as long as they can get something from you. Sad, but often true.

"Friends" and some girls got drunk at my place a while back, like really drunk, was just having a blast until like 5 am. Next morning i see my dad's brand new BMW had a huge hit on the front, like someone reversed into it stupidly drunk, later i found out it happened while i was inside with some chick. You would think the friend who did it would at least let me know right? He took off without saying ****. When i came out i was so fukin drunk i didnt even notice it, we just were chilling out there until everyone took off. You think any of the other friends let me know who it was or what had just happened? A little "yo Ken, your car got hit by XXX"? Nada.

I found out because some chick i wasnt even friends with awared me via FB lol, if it werent for that chick i wouldnt have known ****. Started digging and calling some friends, and everybody was like "i didnt see **** man", or "im not sure man maybe XXX knows", like, fuking covering for the guy. Called the dude immediately to fix it, and then called everyone out on the group as to why nobody said **** when we are supposed to be friends. Well guess who left that whatsapp group.

Not me because they know hot chicks and **** is fun with them lol, but at least i know im never fukin having them come over ever again. Not that kind of friends.

bro in this system the majority of people and even your friends don't really give a fuk about you. they just play the role so that you give them attention and make them feel good about themselves. it's rare to find real people who look out for each other. when you do, treat them well and do for them what you want them to do for you. that's how solidarity works. we can make small changes in the world but the focus must be on us first. we have to be that change first. and if the people you call friends don't treat you how you would treat them then fuk them and get new friends.

I always bring my own alcohol with me if I plan on drinking. If beer is OFFERED when I don't plan on drinking, I usually end up still leaving and getting my own alcohol and returning.

They shouldn't have, and you shouldn't have expected them to have, chipped in for the fight. Your TV, you purchased it for everyone, it's on you. Petty AF to expect them to throw you a few singles each. However, if you were providing the fight, they should have at least brought the beers. Common courtesy (unless you said otherwise).

I bring beer with me as a general rule because most people don't have enough cold beers on hand for my taste plus I feel like a greedy kunt if I neck like 8 of their brews.

Don't really think there are any hard and fast rules about this kind of stuff, what I will say is if it always just goes one way, yeah, that's fukked.
