As someone who's been to Tokyo, itwill probably blow every Olympics in history out of the water. But that doesn't mean Rio will be a failure. There are certainly concerns about pollution, crime, poverty, etc. but these same concerns were very real for the World Cup. And they were also very real before Sochi, Beijing, South Africa (WC), etc.

This is what's going to happen:
- People act like the world will end
- Olympics go down without anything happening
- People around the world rejoice, the locals suffer and the city is in debt

Sound familiar? All I'm saying is that the concerns we're seeing for Rio aren't necessarily new to these types of events. But for some reason the publicity is tenfold. AKA overblown.

July 29, 2016: Chinese hurdler Shi Dongpeng arrives in Rio and in promptly thrown up on by a seemingly drunk man. As he and the camera crew following him to the Olympics, their luggage and production equipment are stolen. does no one here know about rios carnival parade? they spend all this money on costumes and decorations and when its over they throw all that **** out on the streets.
or does anyone know about Jardim Gramacho its a toxic trash island right outside rio, they made a documentary about it called Waste Land.

I can live with some of these countries getting the WC since most already have the stadiums in place (although I still think that Russia and Qatar are a joke).... but Olympics are a whole other story.

What other Olympics had fukking BODIES washing up on shore or public beaches? Or massive amounts of sewage in the water where athletes have to compete? Or athletes getting scammed/mugged?

If you're not a first-class city/country you have no business hosting an event like this.... and you most likely can't afford it.

IOC doesn't give 2 chits though as long as they get their payoffs.
