Anybody saying Apocalypse Now didn't understand the movie. Simple as that. If you watch it expecting a typical war movie, you're going to have a bad time.
I'd encourage anyone saying they didn't like it to read 'Heart of Darkness' by Joseph Conrad, the book on which the movie was based.

The ghosts would have fukken wrecked him had he gone in there without anything BUT the re-made swrod of Isildur which was gifted to him by Elrond because it was proof that he was the one true king and the ghosts would have no choice but to obey him.
Also he only contracted teh Ghosts to help fight in the battle of minas tirith. So he honored his word and let them pass on, he never told them to stay back and fight that last battle to distract Sauron's eye so that Frodo would have more time.
The Eagles iirc werent just as susceptible to falling to the Rings power thats why they didnt use them... And iirc the eagles are bit of *******s and dont really come help just because some random wizard or human told them to.. .They're apparently really revered and respected creatures in middle earth.

They should've either never bothered to help them or help them from the beginning.
Seriously, there's no way around it and it was just bad writing.
And why did he tell the ghosts to only fight at minas tirith?
Those things were invincible.
Heck, he could've told them to destroy all of saurons troops and only after saving the world would they be forgiven.
Why use something that powerful for only 1 battle?

I'm kind of worried that Suicide Squad will be the same....we'll just have to wait and see
EDIT:
Watched Raging Bull the other day and it was kind of whatever. Couldn't get into it. Didn't get Donnie Darko either

I can tell just from watching the movie that Nolan did his homework and his IQ is at least 150+. The fact that he was able to take ideas that only a handful of people in the world fully grasp and make a quality movie around it is amazing. The scene where they return to the ship after a few hours and realize years had passed by for everyone else (especially the video of his daughter and son now grown up) was perfection. There were so many tough concepts and ideas that were portrayed brilliantly in that movie. It was also meant to be seen on a 70mm IMAX (to grasp the vastness of space), so for those that didn't see it like that you missed out.

And then compliment a whole different scene?

Lets just focus on the good parts and ignore the bad.

His spaceship got completely destroyed, yet he survived?
