I guess that's why they're all moving to Texas. Better job market and it's dirt cheap out here. This house is 306k in Mansfield Tx. Tarrant County area.
The appeal of LA is the weather but not much else. NY and Cali are pretty crappy states altogether. I was looking at TX but prop tax is pretty high. Bet the prop tax on that house is $7-8k year. Rental market isn't that great either so you're kinda fked if you no longer want to reside there.


OP's house is actually pretty cheap as a renovated house is in the $500k region in beautiful South LA 'gentrified' areas.

The only place you'll find a HOUSE under 300k anywhere in LA, you'll most likely get shot as you walk out.
Do the same thing in zillow typing in "Los Angeles" and you get the same result. Both big cities, all about the zip code

350K gets you a really nice 3 or 4br home in Texas some in gated communities. Now I see why people from Cali are flooding Texas.

The home on top is worthless to me but generating enough rental income for me to make a little bit of money while I let the lot value continue to appreciate.

Came in not expecting much, leaving unsurprised.

In the area I am in 350k would not put you top tier type of housing, but you are well into the upper middle class/lower upper class type of neighborhoods.
You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.
