"Most innovative game of the year," where you manage storage like an episode of alien Hoarders and hate-f*ck rocks with a mining laser so you can not die on the insipid rock you've landed on while trying to name everything after dicks.
Infinitesimally small chance of ever meeting someone...
Spoiler!

6gb of content and 18 quintillion planets, but days before release they're firing off take-down notices against streamers...
Spoiler!

Then No Man's Sky's precious "spoilerific" ending in a nutshell:
Spoiler!
1.

F#ck YOU, minerals!
2. Skip to 2:50:
3.
[ul]New Game Plus
[ul]
The end.-$60
Glad I held off, especially if even the already shallow sounding features from 4 months ago got gutted. Now the game's basically an early access beta release that cost full price. There was enough writing on the wall that should have told people to lower the hell out of their ridiculous expectations, although the press is also a bit at fault for playing into the hype without even being arsed to get a straight answer from the developers in the first place.

On the flip side, I can't understand why people are pouring so much effort into hating it - if it's not for you, move on and play something that is, there are lots of games out there.

People paid for a triple A title and got a game that resembles an early access Alpha version of a game.
That's why they're pouring so much hate into it.
You can't let a developer get away with this sh*t. That's why the gaming industry is in the sh*t state it is in. You let this slide and you open up the door for other developers and companies to do the same thing and next thing you know you got an industry with little to no quality control where sh*t like this is the norm. Although one can argue it pretty much is this way already.

I'm not defending them for lying, I just didn't care about any pre-release stuff. Every developer hypes their game, and almost every game fails to live up to that hype. I just try not to subject myself to it. Did the developer lie? I've no idea, up until a couple of days before release I hadn't seen or read any of the previews.
I would argue that the quality of what was actually released is subjective - I really like it and feel like I've got more than my money's worth. I paid the same for this as I did for Uncharted 4 which I was done with after 15 hours, whereas I'm ~40 hours into NMS and still enjoying. I'm NOT saying that NMS is better than UC4, but for me I feel like I've got value in my purchase. It isn't perfect - it's rough around the edges and is definitely repetitive. If the core mechanisms don't grip you, it's a game you'll hate. I get that, I can see that. For me I'd compare it to a game like Body Harvest on the N64, a game which didn't look great, felt clunky, was very rough around the edges, but I sank stacks of hours into and loved every minute. That game was very divisive, in the same way that NMS is.
Out of interest, in what way were people expecting a triple A title from an indie studio with 13 staff? That in itself is preposterous.

It's too early to call it a "scam".

Just judging from the trailer you could see it was going to be crap... like an open world with no actual storyline.... will never work.

Honestly the internet has gone full fukkin retard when it's come to this game. The amount of hate this game has been getting has been disappointing to see. People are legit gloating over the fact that this game has failed to live upto its expectations. Gloating. It's like they've wanted nothing more than to see this game reach short of its mark.
There is no dev that's trying to do what NMS sky has tried to do. I'm giving HG the benefit of the doubt and i'll see just exactly what they add to this game in future content and how they move forward in regards to this game.
You guys still do realise that the devs are fully aware of the game they put out right lol ... It's not like they released and prayed that nobody would find out how bare bones it really is lmao.
I'd much rather you *******s and the internet actually do something more productive and actually call out some one like Sony for not allowing refunds over PSN or increasing the price of PS Plus for no good reason ..... .But nah instead lets call out the 16 man indie studio that's clearly trying to get this game sorted.

Sony, Amazon, and Steam offering refund no matter how long you've played the game. Holy ****. I wonder if Sean Murray is sad or laughing from the millions he's probably made.
