I bartended in college and a couple years after.

I remember getting **** for leaving a $4 tip on two beers that was $12 total when I met up with a buddy while coming back home for break. He knew a few people on the staff and they talked mad **** to him apparently when I left. Literally two pint pours. Was there for 45 minutes. Actually getting rustled thinking about it. I have an endless amount of stories dealing with ******* drunks, but waiters, particularly waitresses, are so ****ing entitled it is insanity.

Holy fuk this. brb waiter brings me a $10 bottle of wine. Another brings me a $100 bottle. Both did the same job. One gets an extra $18(based on 20% tip). Ridiculous as fuk. You will never hear servers bitch about that though.

I understand the difference when it's some 18 year old kid serving you your ****ty plate of food at Applebee's vs a server at some high end French Laundry type place who has to know their ****.

Btw, I wonder what % the servers get at high end restaurants. No way they're letting them leave with a chunk of the 15k bill.

I've served and waited and hated it because I realize what the truth is... chit job. High end places are a different game but don't get it twisted its unskilled labor. At least tradies you KNOW you're getting quality when they get better but how hard is it to know menus, drinks, and run around doing stupid chit for high $$.

At this restaurant I was working at a customer left a waitress a message on her receipt that essentially said "you're very rude and if you don't like black people find another place to work" (that place had a fair amount of black customers).

She was dumb enough to post it on ********, word eventually got back to our boss and she was eventually fired for "something else" (you know how that goes).

When you start getting into those kind of dollar amounts I guarantee they're already being charged a certain % as the tip (sort of like a gratuity deal).

So yes, they are getting a nice share of that $15K bill.

This blows my mind. Like some attractive sloot who works at the hottest club/bar has an athlete or rapper come in with their posse, run up a 20k bill and let's say gratuity is 10% (usually more tho) she's walking out with at least 2k from just one table, for one nights work. Chit's wild mane

If i was an attractive sloot and all i had to do was wear lingerie and bring a few bottles to the table at a club/bar i'd do the same tbh.

Of course, waiting tables isn't a bad gig.

I hate when people say don't tip, or it's not a real job, etc.

They bust their ass pretty hard at times, but most of the time they're at least fairly compensated, if not way more.

I can't stand when they complain about not being tipped though, because more often than not you're gonna make pretty good money.

I know at the last restaurant I worked the servers were making $15/hr on bad days, and $30+ on good days, bartenders were making between $20-50/hr.

I think that's really good money for not even needing a diploma.

At the same time I also feel like if you don't tip you shouldn't be eating out, but I also think servers at all places should have to pay the kitchen a small % of their tips, which doesn't happen at like 99% of restaurants.

Good.

I hate it when people try to attention whore off of situations like this when they were probably wrong to begin with. They did the same thing to LeSean McCoy at PYT (a hipster burger joint in Philly), and the stupid owner bashed LeSean, too. It turns out, that it was another case of bad service. Now, I tend to leave a somewhat decent tip anyway, but I get why these clearly rich guys would not tip to make a point. These NFL dudes literally throw money around all the time. There is no way they are "cheap" as the bitch called D'Angelo Williams.

You Euro brahs stay the f*ck out. In America you know damn well when you go to a restaurant you are going to be tipping to some degree. To completely not tip is bullsh*t. To leave maybe $10 for a $128 tab should have been sufficient if he felt the service was terrible. That's under 10%. In b4 $10 is a lot, not on a $128 tab. It's relative. Had it been a $10 he should have at least left a $1. etc
That's some completely arbitrary rule you literally just made up with no logic behind it. Why should he "at least leave" any particular amount? Who made you the authority. It's your opinion. Keep it that way.

Wow he's so cheap guys, he only bought a $130 meal!

Stupid sloots. Get a better job that pays more than $10/hr and maybe then you won't have to complain about people not giving you free money for doing a job you're already being paid to do.
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Cuz cooks at a decently established restaurant generally start at $14-15/hr. Grill guys, sous chefs, and head chefs that make the important and more expensive dishes can earn up to $70-80k a year. Servers in most places in US make 5.03/hr and after taxes on salary and taxes on credit card tips which are automatically processed it comes out to about $2/hr.

I'm all for tipping much better on better service but there's so many factors behind the scenes that could result in not as good of service. That bartender could've been weeded out their ass and it could be 100% the kitchens fault why the food took a little while or was fuked up. Sounds like deangelo Williams used that excuse as a cover up to not seem like the bad guy.

There's two sides to every story.

GTFO too deangelo about u working as a server before. I know for a fact he was on scholarship while at Memphis before joining the nfl. And I'm pretty sure in 2006 when he was drafted collegiate athletes on scholarship weren't allowed to work a part time job. And if he went to college at 18 I know he wasn't a server before that cuz it's not legal to serve under 18 yrs old, especially alcohol.

Unless he was a bull shiit busser at a bull shiit mom and pop hole in the wall restaurant sounds like bull shiit to me.

Everyone pls go with this whole "restaurant servers are so entitled and they demand $15/hr" cause y'all are clueless. Those are Walmart workers demanding that shiit

This.

Also, mindblown that the entitled waitress wasn't smart enough to ensure good service for the rich athlete. Go all out for the NFL player, receive sweet tip. Who cares if you miss out on $10 tips from the other tables haha.

Damn so many people getting rustled.

if ypu call one server a 'bad server' the other servers band together to discredit the person that left the chit tip. It couldn't possibly be because the server was actually chit. It's obviously the millionaire athlete that couldn't afford that extra 9 dollars on the tip. He's making up this big story cause he couldn't afford that extra 9 bucks.

Its obvious the bruhs saying tips are MANDATORY are servers themselves. Who the fuk would tip a waiter for bad service? You're just promoting the poor work they're giving by tipping them for it. Tipping waiters with poor customer service/common sense just promotes them to continue being terrible servers.

This. Not like the man doesn't HAVE fkin money. Loser job with the most outraged people ever. It is a chit industry.
