I love dogs and i made it over a decade never having to shoot a dog, hell only time i came close was when a dog charged my kid when she was in a stroller but luckily the dog ran off before getting too close but my finger was on the trigger about to shoot
this has to be a joke right?

please re-read that bold out loud to yourself.

he shot the dog before he retreated, first of all.

and are you actually arguing there is no scale?

so what you're saying is that cops don't need to use common sense and gauge situations accordingly, they just need to react in the way that is safest for them?

So you're saying you don't use common sense either

brb shooting someone for littering, because they might have been throwing it in your direction

way to sht on yourself LMFAO

fuking inbred idiot. i'm glad you didn't shoot the dog charging your daughter, but I almost wish you did so your daughter could understand what a fukin idiot her dad is lol. bet money she would have broke down crying asking why you kill the nice doggy

lol if you call that charging. I guess a kid running up for a hug is also "charging". the dog was shot before he even had to retreat to put distance between the two of them, so he clearly had time and room to pull his gun out and shoot. or it was already drawn, which i'm pretty sure is not how they are supposed to conduct yourself.

The dog wasn't charging at all. Seriously man. That's not charging or aggressive behavior. I'll take that to court. Take this exact video and ask a judge to determine it as aggressive behavior. Because it's not. The dog literally WALKS past the first officer and walks outside. The second pussy ******* only had to retreat because he's stumbling over his own crippling fear of a 50 lb. dog that just wants to be outside.

You are seriously pathetic for engaging this much brain power to try and justify a mistake. LEO's aren't infallible, and you lot would earn a fuk ton more credit from society by admitting to your mistakes and admitting areas that need improvement.

Proof 2, there absolutely is a scale you have to use. It's called Standard Operating Procedure, and you don't just get to throw it out the window and turn real life into the Wild Wild West whenever you happen to feel like it.

Lmao at pepper spray not being effective. The dog would be literally blind for the next few hours.

Prove it.

Wait I'll just prove you wrong.

Just another miscer spewing off random bull****.. fkin idiot.. negged

and LOL at no time to deploy WTF.. negged even harder you fkin idiot. It takes the same amount of time to grab a gun.
i cant believe that people are so out of touch with reality itt, your own picture contradicts your own argument, its clearly states that if the dog is trained it can be resistant to pepper spray, just spraying it with peppor spray or hitting it with a baton can piss the dog off and it will attack even faster lmao, anybody who says all dogs are nice and will just back off when hit with a baton are delusional, if you think a trained attack dog will say "ok ok you pepper sprayed me and hit me with a baton im done" has no idea how animals react to threats, they attack not back down lmao

i dont think you get it, the dog could be an adoption?could be a trained attack dog? could be a drug dealers ex dog? could be an ex police dog put up for adoption? you know it wasnt how? you expect cops to do background researches on dogs whereabouts before they answer every call? the cops walk into situations all the time not knowing if it can go from 0-100 in a spit second and you expect a cop to just risk his life for someones family pet?, what makes the pets like more valuable than a humans?

You've given me serious pause regarding my feelings towards LEOs with this thread and all of your responses. It's very clear to everyone that you don't police your community to serve its people, but rather, you police whatever area you're in as a paranoid trigger happy gestapo who sees all inhabitants and situations as threats and dangers. Your perspective is very disturbing and sad. I'd like to reiterate a post you conveniently skipped over:

You're labeling every citizen and every pet a suspect and a threat and instantly looking for threats and escalation, rather than treating people and animals like members of community whom you are sworn to protect.

"it's not the cops job to risk..." bullchit. It absolutely is. You know what you're signing up for as much as any other cop. Your entire job is to risk your life and injury in order to SERVE AND PROTECT CITIZENS.

And if cops are going to be given that much flexibility regarding the ability to use deadly force, there should be clear and explicit training on animal behavior, given that there are literally millions of homeowners with dogs in this country. The behavior of the animal in the video is not aggressive. That is not up for debate. That is a fact that can be proven by dog trainers and animal behavior specialists. Regardless of the homeowner's responsibility to secure the dog, the fact is that it wasn't being aggressive. If you're interpreting it that way then you have a gross misunderstanding of canine behavior.

The dog ran out of the house barking. It looked like it could have been about to attack. It was definitely large and looked aggressive.

The cops job description involves inherent risk. Pepper spray should be the first choice of action, yes. If the dog HAPPENS to be one of the small minority percentage who would have been trained/exposed to the active ingredient, THEN escalation to deadly force would be understandable. The dog is not going to kill or maim a human in the time it would take to deploy pepper spray. If the cop were to sustain a bite or two, that's part of the fukn job. You put yourself at risk to avoid resulting to unnecessary violence.

This is why my dogs are trained to down and not move when I open the door (srs). Had a cop come once when the boy was a wee pupper and he stepped back, hand on hip when a 30lb puppy dashed at the door when my wife opened it.

video evidence plain as day

cops there for legal reason to arrest sister for warrant,
woman leaves door open and cop pushes it open (legal)
potato dog owner fails to secure dog resulting in it going thru open doon
dog then rushes cop aggressively and is shot as the cop had no other means that could effectively stop the dogs attack

ALL LEGAL AND JUSTIFIED. so please stop with your pathetic BS

the first cop could have not let the dog out
the owner could have locked the dog up

those are the 2 most realistic "could haves". your could haves are just what ifs meant to further a misguided argument

so the cop risk injury, infections, possibly lose a couple fingers disabled for life or possily killed by a bite to a major artery in the leg to save a criminal dogs life? seems legit at the cops pay especially in the usa, lets just risk our lives for a dog because dogs lives are worth more than humans, phukin peta extremists

I wonder what's the smallest dog a cop ever shot.
I wonder if some cops actually shot more than 2 or 3 dogs at a time... like went into a place and slaughtered all the dogs.
I wonder if a cop has ever shot a cat, snake, parrot, or other house pet.

Someone should make a reference.

Because that person most likely has a firearm that they could use to shoot the cops with by surprise from behind the door. There's a reason this doesn't happen in any other country: the cops have no reason to fear average people. Whereas, in America, they have a very good reason to have an inherent distrust of anyone.

If you don't want this kind of thing to happen, give up your right to bear arms.

It's your choice what you want: better, safer policing or the right to bear arms. But you can't have both.

Where was the risk for protecting citizens? This was just risk his life and well being to do his job which was whatever he was there for to talk to the lady about.

Also, is a cop not a citizen? The answer is yes they are, everyone who is in this country legally is a citizen. If you want to go further, cops are by definition civilians, the only people who are not regarded as civilians are active military, cops are not exempt and "non civilian personnel"

Strong lack of research or real experience by most people in this thread. It is easy to tell an aggressive dog from a friendly dog, it also only takes half a second for a dog to charge and latch on to a person, it takes longer for a person to react.

pepper spray is extremely ineffective in all situations. I have been sprayed multiple times and never had any effect beyond my face feeling like it was sunburned, this includes a 10 second non stop application directly to my eyes and face and running an obstacle course. I lost no vision.

The officers opened the door because the female retreated and they needed to make sure for their safety she was not going to grab a weapon.

People only seem to care about cops lives when they are killed, they seem to be anti cop in any and every situation in which a cop is not killed but takes measures to protect their life. You have to realize yes a cop puts on his uniform with the understanding its a risky job, but that cop also may have a mother and father, a wife, children, husband, grand children, brother or sister or other family members who love and/or depend on them.

if that guy was afraid for his life, he shouldnt be a cop.

Im not saying that there arent times a dog can be a real threat and needs to be killed but there is video evidence that doesnt support what happened.

oh come on bro, if a dog barked and came at you like that you would be threatened, if your not you probably shouldnt be a cop because your clearly oblivious to your surroundings, there have been many instances where cops raid a place and dogs are trained to kill/maim cops who bust in, dogs historically have been used by humans as weapons thats a fact

So if a 25kg dog attacked you or your family and you didn't have a gun you could not stop it? You could not defend yourself or scare off the dog?

To be clear we're talking about a dog ITT. It's a pet animal that has been domesticated for 40,000 years. This wasn't a feral dog or some kind of dog bred for attacking LEO's. There are 500 million on Earth. Ever go to Greece? There are dogs just hanging out everywhere and sometimes they will come at you. The average Greek teenager has more balls and intelligence then you based on that comment.

pepper spray is extremely ineffective in all situations.

Looks like someone alerted the LEO crew rep trade ****s, here they come.

Someone who isn't a complete phukwit would have notified the officers that they have a dog and that they'll shut the door so it doesn't run away. But of course she won't do that because she's an idiot.

This is why I loathe the majority of poor people. srs.

Cops need to clean this trash up.

A cop is a cop, not an animal psychologist. I don't know much about dogs and that dog looked aggressive to me. It was large and it was barking. That's enough for me and anyone else that doesn't know anything about dogs to feel threatened. I would have defended myself at that point too.

It's the owner's responsibility to restrain the dog.

But this really all comes down to personal responsibility. Part of personal responsibility is not associating yourself with people likely to have problems with the law. Because it puts you and people or animals that depend on you at risk.

My best friend from childhood does hard drugs. I don't associate with him anymore because his drug use puts me at risk both legally and physically. It's personal responsibility.

The average Greek teenager has more balls and intelligence then you based on that comment.

lol
did i ever say i couldnt stop a charging dog? the dofference is whether i want to get injured or not. As i stated i went over a decade and never came close to shooting a dog on the job and i handled dogs all the time, but if its coming at my kids im shooting. I personally wont shoot a dog coming at me but if its coming for someone else or my family theu are getting shot

maybe i would feel threatened but my first instinct would not be a gun in that scenario. anyone who justifies that action has poor judgement and it would frighten me that the person continued to be on the streets with a deadly weapon.

its too easy for some to overreact, then claim "fear for my life" instead of admitting they made a mistake.

lmfao you literally have no argument here, your whole stance is, the dog wasnt agressive, anyone with half a,brain can see that dogs actions would be interpreted as agressive by any standard
