It's very clear that subjectivity is a tool employed by LEOs to excuse their lazy and violent behavior on the job. It's also very clear as previously stated that you are unwilling to even admit the slightest bit of error, that other options WERE available and that the cops had the opportunity to handle the situation differently. The blind, dogged, disgustingly determined way in which you are willing to overlook any possible misjudgment simply because he's a brother in blue is quite scary. You literally believe that you are infallible and don't deserve in any way to answer to the people you are sworn to protect. You police the world as if everything other than a cop is an enemy, a threat, and you have an incredibly dangerous mindset regarding the justification to use deadly force.

It doesn't matter how many people present their arguments for what the cops could have done better, because you won't listen to it. You'll hide behind the same rhetoric, "you don't know anything about police work" "blah blah my subjective opinion on the situation" "you're an idiot" and won't actually address anyone's points, no matter how logical or well constructed.

It's also sad to note that you'd rather engage in public warfare regarding the opinion on cops and actively hurt police reputation just to stubbornly defend cops who could have acted better in that situation.
no valid exp have not been presented, you have based nothing on legality and only on your emotions. Which are not what justify a shooting or not

#2 counterpoint is a terrible counterpoint. So any dog's that loose that hasn't been secured by it's owner should just be shot, just because it could be a danger and the owner didn't secure it?
#3 is just wrong, the first cop obviously had time to react since he was able to take a step back and pull out his stick
#4 i wouldn't say is incorrect, but I'd like to know that the people who are protecting me are capable of responding to situations off something more than pure base instinct.
#5 isn't really incorrect, so I won't debate it, but deploying other methods may also have eliminated the need to kill a dog and given him the time to see the dog wasn't aggressive. We don't know whether the dog actually would have attacked or not, so you can't say for sure either way.

the only reason we seem anti-cop is because of how stubborn and ignorant you are. If anything, you are a perfect example of cops jerking off each other...dumbass

I personally have no problem with smart, sensible, reasonable cops who are fair people. I do have a problem with cops who think they are above everyone else and are infallible in what they do, simply because the law backs them up

IE YOU
no justification is not subjective. The laws are in place making it justified, you can compare it to hitlers camps all you want it just makes you look dumb

Same here man, that's why I've been at 14k rep for like a year. I say what I feel, sometimes it's a rep and sometimes it's a neg, but idc. Usually what keeps me here is a mod in bed with someone I disagree with. All the chitposts that dude made itt should have him banned honestly.

Definitely came in to support his LEO buddy. 2 mods and forum sentinel were itt and didn't see a need to neg me, but an obscure mod with 0 posts itt negged me. It's a weird place now.

Justification-

the action of showing something to be right or reasonable.

nowhere in that definition does it mention anything about laws, or legality. so it is purely subject, as what someone may consider right, another would consider wrong. Are you that fukking stupid?

You alone have made me lose more respect for police officers in this one day than every single terrible police story I've ever heard in my entire life.

im done with you for real its getting ridiculous how retarded you are. You have posted nothing showing how this is not a reasonable and justified shooting. Im not going to keep repeating myself. If what you say is true we should be seeing this officer fired anyday now so i will just wait for that to happen

lol @ saying we will see him fired. unjustified or not, how many times do police officers get fired over the killing of a dog? ultimately, it's a dog and not a human, so the conseqeunces are not anywhere near as severe.

I also feel like that's a typical cop-out defense for police officers who know the fukked up. brb "the law will punish him if he was in the wrong" brb 8 weeks paid leave

I don't agree with this, if an animal was presenting serious threatening behavior. I think that shooting it is justified. Human life will always be valued over an animals. Random house dog who barks and might bite and inflict an injury that might amount to this..........

To me that isn't an ethical shooting.

i said that tongue in cheek, because i know he wont get punished because its obvious from the video he was justified. And no subjectivity is not part of the legal system. It is based off laws and case laws that set precident

Since you seem to value logic, the logical comparison is using something that was clearly immoral and yet legal.

If a cop goes to a dog-daycare and all the dogs start barking, can he shoot them all?

i do the same thing the girl did when someone comes to my door, push the door closed while i go get someone/something so that the dog doesn't go running out. i have a pomeranian and it literally does that with everyone, barks like a bitch and runs up to them, but never bit anyone. I love how the 1 cop is just standing there calmly cause he knows the dog is no threat, but the other idiot has to pull out his gun and shoot it.

But you are a different breed altogether. You've expressed multiple deficits in this thread....sociopathic thinking, intellectual inferiority on an alarming level, an inability to comprehend what you are reading, a stark inability to form a coherent, logical argument, a complete bias for police activity regardless of how unjustified or possibly even illegal, stubbornness, and downright rudeness (I'm not a saint here either). But with all that said, I'm legitimately frightened that people like you are officers of the law. You represent everything that every social group has been saying for years, which I tend not to agree with but you have singlehandedly proven it. You represent a militaristic, unchecked police force, privileged and entitled to do whatever you want, run by and composed of individuals that potentially have severe cognitive deficits and sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies. That's downright scary, and the state of things across the country. You should be sterilized and hospitalized, not out in charge of social order and "serving and protecting". How sad this is.

No it wasn't warranted at all IMO, I feel like the dog wasn't being aggressive enough to shoot it, there were other ways of controlling it without taking its life, the dog seemed rather old to me which makes it even less of a threat.

of course the assailants aren't dogs, but this is one of my favorite videos and i believe applicable to this situation. nobody knows how they will react in a situation where great bodily harm is a possibility. sure, there may have been other options, but in the moment officers are forced to make decisions in <1 second vs. armchair quarterbacking on a forum for hours.

EDIT: vids not working?

How sad this is.
honestly, this to a t. I know that not all cops or like this, or even a large majority (i'd like to hope, at least) but that fact there is even one of you in this position of power scares me, and makes me realize that all these ridiculous cop stories people have been spreading around are not so ridiculous. All of a sudden I understand why some people hate cops so much...probably because you or someone like you was their first encounter with one, and that likely ruined every forthcoming experience.

That's your opinion, regarding whether my actions itt deserved a neg. You're e titled to it. But if you had actually read the thread I have a hard time believing u wouldn't neg that idiot as well. Especially the sociopathic posts. Bt again, that's your choice. If u somehow don't see the lunacy that dude is spewing that's on you, and representative.

And for the record, no one negged me itt except you. Check for yourself.

strong equating fully developed, intelligent adult humans to dogs, which are well known to have the mental capacity of a toddler, and cannot use guns or other weapons.

In the case of a person, I would fully support this shooting. In the case of a dog, I refuse to.
