The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

If it was a big deal financially then you should have left it.
Nobody its gonna give a fuk youre driving it, and i used to have a 5 series too in uk, the only thing that happens is people stop giving you way on the road cos they are jelly srs.

Most people are around or over 40 and go home to look after their cats and kids lol. I go out with them twice a year for the free work dinner and drinks, but they are more acquaintances than friends tbh

It wasn't about making friends, it was about enhancing my 20s as an FA. I don't want to look back at my life and think all I did was work and sleep. The car allows me to go hiking away from the city, play golf also away from the city, go for cottage breaks away, go to beaches, and eventually if I do make friends, drive them around.

I kind of wish there was a tinder, but just for friends. I have quite a lot of matches in terms of women, but I don't know what to say or how to open conversation with them. I've just accepted that I'm guna be FA

I can respect this post, but you haven't offered me an alternative solution. What I'm currently doing is a combination of building financial security (living at home, modest life, putting wages in savings, purchases with my own cash not inheritance), whilst maintaining escapism through cars and hobbies.

I know my life can be improved and the grind will get to me, but how do I suddenly change it to make it better?

Wot? Did you even read the thread? I'll break it down for you:

I had just under $21,000 in personal savings

I spent $17,950 on car

$2050 on insurance

$200 road tax

$100 full tank of fuel

So I am left with around $450


However I get paid next Friday and I will tuck away the majority of that straight into savings because I live at home, eat at home, etc

Open conversation, fail, learn from it > open conversation, fail, learn from it > open conversation, succeed, learn from it. If you really have quite a lot of matches, who cares if you lose 95% of them due to a stupid opening and succeed with 5%?

In that year I will have NO major costs at all. So yes this time next year I could have 30,000 saved. But having 15000 and enjoying a BMW 5-Series, it's power, ride and speed will be much more enjoyable

Going up to them and saying hello only works if you are a 9+/10 facially aesthetic male with a 8+/10 body.

didn't know it was possible for op to suffer lonely in the UK when I went to the UK i made plenty of friends , people are more friendly on the streets to talk to.

He’s in engineering. Over here it is basically an FA breeding programme: uni course is 90% male (and autist) then your job is full of men the wrong side of 50.

My parents have their own houses with mortgages paid off. My dad has 3 cars and my mum doesn't drive. I don't NEED to take them out, I WANT to take them out. Hence why I got a 5-door sports saloon over a 2-seater convertible.

Also, I went to one of the best universities in the world and did Engineering. It's partly the reason i'm an FA rotter. But atleast I can save cash from now on. I've blown MY savings. I've only been working around a year (excluding internships). They have a lot more savings than me, and don't give me access to any of them outside of post-death inheritance.

Did you read the Porsche Boxster thread? (In spoiler if unaware) - I can't afford a house, and more important I don't WANT a mortgage, because that means cucking my life away to working 50 hour weeks for the next 25+ years. So given my situation, and that i'll basically be saving money to do nothing with, what harm is there in me buying a Porsche for my 25th birthday?

Stats of Porsche (15,500):2008 Boxster, 2.7 Litre Sport, 2-door convertible, petrol engine, 30,000 miles on the clock (so quite new), 245 BHP, leather interior, 19 inch alloys, cruise control, sat nav installed, air-conditioning, heated seats, semi-automatic transmission


So basically a year's savings to purchase the car, maybe a month to two months savings to insure it, same to run it, same to maintain it. So in 18 months of work, I can completely pay off a newish black Porsche and use it as my daily driver and even if I have no woman or friends in my life, atleast I can on a PERSONAL level, feel absolutely GOAT behind the wheel!


Should I just YOLO and go for it Misc?
