same here man, if you ever need to chat hit me up. Im not an alcoholic (I do frequently binge drink something Im trying to cut down on), but Ive had problems with addiction. Getting prescribed adderal at a young age ended up leading to a serious speed and coke (no ban plz) habit which ive been trying to get a grip on

It takes away the meaning of the word, and so when people like you who are in the depths of a serious addiction are brave enough to admit they have a problem with alcohol society doesnt respond the way they should. Real alcoholism is serious fukking chit on par with any other drug addiction, I really hope you overcome this chit.

If I may ask though how did it start? Did it kind of creep up on you, or did you start really just going at it pretty hard? You mentioned you dont binge drink to the point of blackout, but did it start that way? Like did you party pretty hard originally or did you always just have enough to get buzzed and then you just started getting buzzed more and more frequently?

anyways good luck brah I hope you make it srs
I always drank on Friday nights after the work week but would blackout then deal with the hangover the next day as painful as it was. Then I found out that it's better to get through the hangover by having some drinks the next day. Next think you know I'm drinking every day just to keep the hangovers under control.

The fact that you're aware of it and you're willing to voluntarily go through detox is a great sign. You're gonna make it.

My mom's an alcoholic and after years of denial she had to be forced into detox and rehab multiple times. She can't drink in moderation so she's been completely sober for years now. I'm really proud of her.

Fuark i do the middle part all the time.. drink hair of the dog the following morning after getting hammered the previous night. I love a few morning beers and some video games. I always stop by the early afternoon though and am back to normal by the evening.

I can definitely see how its a process like that, little by little.

Good luck brah

I don't think I've gone a day without drinking since February 2015 when I last tried to quit. Don't drink all day but as soon as the kids go to bed I'll drink 9-12AM. Go through 2-3 handles of vodka a week.

Would love to quit dipping and drinking but I wouldn't know what to do without it either.

I've never had a hangover before either and I've been like this since college.

Yep.. Too many times I've gone into work on Monday feeling like chit and being unproductive.. That's why I've recently set a hard rule for myself no drinking after 4pm on Sundays so I am good to go Monday. Then Monday after work I always crush the gym, go to the grocery store, cook a healthy dinner and relax. That helps me segway into the work week and I won't drink again until Friday evening.

Good luck opey - the first step is realizing you have a problem as many people aren't able to do that. They think their destructive drinking habits are normal and okay.

A key of going through this process is realizing you can't ever drink again. It will lead you right back down the slippery slope and land you right back where you are.

I am like this with everything I do in my life. I am also an alcoholic, though not your traditional one, I am not psychically addicted. I do not have withdrawals when I don't drink 1 or 2 days one week. If I am having a bad day or sad or stressed out, i immediately run to a drink. I binge drink like a muthafukca, last night it was 12 shots of vodka before bed. My issue is I cannot sleep at night without nightmares and have anxiety and just general stress. Everything is more fun when I drink, even doing laundry with a buzz is cool with me.

Last month on the recommendation of someone who is also an alcoholic, I got my MMJ card. I hate being high off weed and the cerebral effects it gives. However I tried it, I buy a high CBD content Indica strain and smoke when I get home from work (9pm), I eat dinner and pass the **** out. Not good for weight loss, but great for not drinking. In the month I have been doing this I have went from drinking 4-5 nights a week to 2-3.

I dunno, just a suggestion to help with the depression, stress and anxiety. Good luck fellow boyos.....there used to be a huge Misc Alcoholics thread back pre 2010, it was a great gathering people were always willing to talk and help each other out if they couldn't hit a meeting. There's a ton of us here or at least there was.

Good luck mane. I was there, hiding hard liquor in my car, at work etc. it's a hard road.

You can get sober and stay that way. Take it a day at a time.

If a worthless drunk like me can still go to work 5 days a week at a fukkingbreweryand stay sober you can too.

PM me anytime.

Been through those binging withdrawals and they can be a nightmare, so definitely taper off.

Some of us get hooked too easy and then tolerance builds up. I get in the habit and within a few days need 2-3 times the amount of alcohol to have the same effect. And it becomes that drinking is the number one thing on my mind. Being sober for more than a couple weeks just rises the thirst till I eventually run out and buy some beer and get back in the cycle.

It's not that dumb, part of my problem is from enjoying the taste of beer and been drinking for 10 years so also a psychological habit underneath my addiction.

You never gotten a hung over, since you've never stopped.. once you do and if you do drink as much as you do.. it's going to be very hard and you'll get the shakes. And if you seriously that far off, withdraws from alcohol are a ton more dangerous than crack.. so if you die.. it was good.

does no one notice your buzzed all the time?

Your real problem isn't drinking. Your problem is whatever is causing you to feel depressed and anxious. Once you deal with that you'll be able to quit drinking all together much more easily.
It could easily be the alcohol that's causing him to feel depressed and anxious. When you drink that much, it ****s with your brain chemistry.

Yeh brah. Alcohol is a serious depressant to your CNS. Your body tries to counteract this by making your CNS more "wakeful". Does this by inhibiting GABA. The result of this induced "wakefulness" increases your baseline anxiety, body temperature, etc.
