I mean, you could be right. Nutsy could be right too. He's probably been in a lot longer than me. I don't know, but I guess I'll find out this week if I popped.

And the reason I smoked is because I was addicted to a different drug (worse than marijuanna) and when I can't get it, I substitute it with something else.... and yes Nutsy I know it's my own choice but it's an addiction and not one that I was ready to quit.

Today was the first UA I've had to do in two years. Just saying. Not all the things you are saying are standards that are actually followed. It usuallyisat least once a year but not in every case.

You can beat it if you drink an ungodly amount of water. My buddy had to get blood test done and he popped for weed that way. He drank a few gallons of water when they went to piss test him and he came up clean. I stressed a few piss tests and it definitely wasn't worth it. My advice to people in the military is to just wait till you get out. Then you can do all the drugs you want without any repurcussions.

They will throw you out for sure.

If you have been in a short period of time, just dont tell you next employer about it.

Very high chance you'll get a bad conduct discharge in the end, and it does follow you for life. Since it's just marijuana, employers on the outside might not care if you explain it to them. So long to any benefits, GI bill, base access etc...no govt agency will hire you either. You might do some days in confinement and definitely will lose stripes.

Hey guy, wanted to say I made a bad decision but I'm not a criminal or a bad person. It's hard for me to be 100% clean. I'm always using something. Maybe the military can help me confront those habits before they kick me out.

One saving grace is the military does its drug tests in a mass test. So all the urine samples from that group of people who tested today will be combined. If the sample pops, they will test everyone again and then the lab will test each individual sample. So you basically get two tests and if you fail both, then you're screwed.

Will see.
He got kicked out, don't think he got any of the benefits of being a vet or whatever. We were coworkers at a warehouse, I don't think he had any skills from the military either other than driving a forklift.

i know a lot of guys from my battalion who popped hot and they all got chaptered out with other than honorable. those who got caught in possession of a substance got a court-martial, spent 30 days in jail, and then booted.

i knew of one guy who failed but got to stay in because he was real with his leadership, told them he fuked up and was prepared to take his punishment, but that he really wanted to stay in. they took it easy on him by stripping him of rank, giving him 30 days extra duty, but he got to stay in.

I am more worried about getting a job after I get out. I've spent the last 6 years in the military so that's really the only current work experience I have. I can't really put down "military" on a resume and then tell them I got kicked out for drugs. Would also feel dishonest to lie and say I didn't get kicked out to employers.

do you regularly indulge in extracurricular stuff? or did you just do it once in the last few weeks?

chances are, if it isn't regular use, you won't fail.

Been using different things for maybe the past two years. There are lots of things you can use that will not pop on a standard urinalysis. I had a dealer and could get a variety of different things.

Dude come on, plenty of guys get blown up and don't have to rely on drugs to get by. If you luck out and they don't draw your bottle for testing you better tell them you're struggling with pain meds and get to a rehab program where they'll give you help without repercussions. Pissing away your military career for weed is a crying shame. All those deployments, duties, 4:30 mornings just for some temporary hits

Better to just be upfront about it. I mean, it depends on the employer. Some people will immediately dismiss you and some people are willing to hear you out. Especially if they see you made an effort to overcome an addiction. Sometimes people respect honesty and will know when you're lying to them.

i made the stupid decision, twice, of getting hammered and smoking while i was in. on both occasions, i was piss tested the next week and i passed both. our company had weekly "random" tests, but i ended up getting called a lot because i was known as a huge partier in the battalion.

i wouldn't worry if you are not regularly smoking.

Fwiw I've never shown my DD214 for a job, I've only been asked once if it was honorable...they didn't even ask for proof.

Also, one of my buddies was caught at the gate coming on to base with spice and shrooms he also went UA for 28 days. Took over a year to get him out. I know it's different across every command, but he was able to save money and line up a job in the meantime. You might get lucky like that.

Weed just happened to be what I had at the time, and in hindsight, yes you are correct. It's stupid and irresponsible to throw away 6 years for a hit of weed but reason and logic kind of goes out the window when you need a fix of something to get you through the night. When I didn't have drugs, I've had some tormenting nights when I'd wonder why I wasn't dead yet. Also have overdosed on something else and been sent to the ER. Everything goes out the door when you lose control.

Am doing much better now despite everything that's happened.

If you need somebody to talk to you can PM. I know first hand how drugs can affect people and their families. This is getting locked as illegal drug discussions are against the forum rules.
