Ya it's about time there are a few people that could go for it. I belive David did 230 lbs off air that counted. Waiting to see what Guinness will post. His bodyweight at the time is 169 lbs 6 lbs less total weight than my record. It maybe some time before he attempts 260 lbs clean.

Nice work. Looks good. And is David Marchante really only 169 lbs? Crazy. Also, you are still listed on the website as numero uno, plus articles of David seem to have been removed from the web. Not sure what is going on there . . .

Ah. Got it. How tall is the dude? He looks like he's 6'2', 225 lbs, so I was shocked to hear he is 169 lbs.

So at the end of a workout today, I beat my deadhang PR and finally cracked 2 minutes, going for 2:05. What is everyone's PR there? Dead hang in this case would simply be hanging, arms fully extended, no pull ups being done. I think Cunanan has the highest on this thread, but I forget what his is.

So I was just wondering, at the bottom of the pull ups do you guys let your shoulders sag (entire arm and shoulder relaxed), or do you keep them tight?
There and back again twice, a deep red's tale.

I would never let my body passively hang weighted... I just go all the way down and rotate a bit

Mark, form looked excellent, as always. And yes, your son definitely added some serious time. Pretty soon he'll be doing pull ups too. My kids both do.

I've heard different things. Most pull up comps and Guinness World Record attempts just require arms lock, not shoulders and lats lock. It's a fuller range of motion to let the arms, shoulders and lats lock, but for many people, it's harder on the body. Plus it's extra energy since it's a fuller range of motion. Go without whatever feels right.

And I don't know how you can do all these "500 deadhang pull ups interspersed with 100 muscle ups in 3 minutes before going to work" videos!

What I remember is that I left on vacation for a month and then my time instantly went up to 9 minutes again. So a lot of it was just practicing ONLY that movement - so no other pull ups. I would do this every day, which was easier to do since I never went to complete exhaustion. Also having a timer app on my phone helped a lot. My timing was one max set up front (just below exhaustion) and then 3 at equal intervals, though it seems cooperrun and fitman84 do singles. That somehow didn't work for me.

That was very cute with your son on the bar! FWIW, my daughter was able to do 8 clean pull ups at 6 years old!

I actually go for the full relaxation, because I get a little bounce (off the tendons, I'm guessing) and it actually helps me do more, even with weighted pull ups. So it makes up for the bigger range of motion for me. However, I'm only 145 lbs, so that may not work with heavier people.

Yeah I tried this last back day and I had a little bit less explosiveness. Feels like when you're fully relaxed and start your rep, it's almost like a spring.

Was just wondering what you guys did cause I heard fully relaxing was bad for your shoulders, which is what I've been doing for the last 4 years

Extremist, I have a video here doing 37 reps, don't know how many you would consider valid. Anyway, until which day do we have time to post new personal bests?

So at the end of a workout today, I beat my deadhang PR and finally cracked 2 minutes, going for 2:05. What is everyone's PR there? Dead hang in this case would simply be hanging, arms fully extended, no pull ups being done. I think Cunanan has the highest on this thread, but I forget what his is.
This is awesome time! I train grip strength lately. I always start my pull up workouts with 1 max reps set (BW) and then I do some supersets of pull ups plus some hammer curls with big diammeter dumbbells or some pull ups with static positions. I tried what you say in one of these workouts and got 50 seconds haha! my forearms were burning as hell.

I don't think the shoulder is absolutely relaxed at this position in my case, I can say maybe it is almost relaxed but not all the way.

I do not know how you all get it in under 6 minutes! I probably could have got a better time without my son being there.
Mark, I have absolutely no doubt you can crash that 6 minutes. Sure you will get 5'40" or less very soon.

Awesome workouts. Flawless form as always, even with super high volume.

Had a big day myself end of last week: 24 reps with a 45lb plate, a bid to tie the EPC record:

What do you guys think?

I also hit a PR of 15 reps with +90 in a minute:
