Damn....hating on Mo Vlogs? Hes a nice, guy and his family isnt even that rich. They prob only have 3 or 4 million to their names, so not exactly your definition of oil merchant. Those Oil tycoons over there are on the hundreds of millions/billions of dollars when it comes to wealth.

I've spent a lot of time there, unfortunately, and hated every moment of it. Starting with the unbearable weather, where just being outside feels oppressive, I don't understand the people who sit on the beach pretending to enjoy themselves while its 45deg outside and the sea is 30deg lol. Then you get the really uncomfortable feeling that you're always a wrong step away from being locked up for some obscure shariah infraction, and the horrible, overtly sycophantic manner in which one is supposed to behave with the locals in order to do "business".

It does put in perspective just how much people are willing to give up for money and the opportunity to buy shiny things which they couldn't afford living in civilised places (all the expats).

As someone who has spent a lot of time in UAE, I'm going to guess 99.9% of the people here have never been anywhere outside of US, Canada, UK or Australia. Yes the migrant labor from (mostly) India is treated like trash and segregated from the Emiratis and other Expatriates, they are not slaves though. But there is a segment of people in EVERY country(including yours) that's treated like trash though, UAE only gets a lot of attention because its wealth is so abundant and so celebrated and the difference is so extreme. But if you're problem is the treatment then there is NO reason to single out the UAE over basically any other country

This is bullchit. The reason why the emirates get singled out is because of the severity of mistreatment and the absolute savage conditions in which the labour is made to work and live. As a point of comparison, I am exposed to the mining industry, among others, and can tell you that the working conditions of menial labour in third world African chitholes such as Zambia and DRC are miles better in terms of health and safety when working UNDERGROUND than a typical construction worker in the UAE enjoys.

They are indirectly funded through oil. Most of the money that has been poured into "banking" and other local ***** industry can be traced back to oil. Once it dries up, all those luxury cars are going to get machine guns mounted to them.
