Also, for OP look up Vado New Mexico. That's where my gf is from and I've spent plenty of time there. Looks like a slum in Mexico.

But basically look at the places where they filmed The Wire.
The train tracks were the worst of it.
I shot a music video for a guy from the netherlands and so we went to some of those wire locations to film him rapping. At those train tracks there are buildings that don't even have a roof. totally dilapidated. And then little kids playing basketball right next door.
it's awful.
edit: Wtf i just looked for 15 minutes and i can't find it

still two buildings without roofs right there

when we filmed that music video i'm 90% sure someone was going to rob us, telling us how dangerous it was to be there. but they were too interested in asking us questions about what we were filming and wanted to watch us film

Memphis fuking TN. Some of these places are just poor. Not poor AND violent as fuk.
Check out Frayser area in North Memphis or South Memphis or Whitehaven or Westwood or Hickory Hill or North Memphis (actually different area than Frayser) or Orange Mound. Basically 70% of the city is fuking ghetto. Sketchy people EVERYWHERE.

I work in Detroit, less then two miles from 8 mile. Always see random people walking around, burned down houses etc. I have gotten used to it though, don't really worry about anything - I park in a fenced in lot for work and I am only in the dark in the early morning when nothing ever happens so I never really run the risk of anything.

If something happens to you there are no witnesses.
and FYI there are a half dozen or more homeless people in fed hill by the bars every night. and that's a nice part of baltimore.

South Tucson, AZ
Gary, IN
Ciudad Juarez

I've been to the slums of Philippines. Third world poverty is terrible compared to first world. Like....at least the people in Camden have shoes...
