Explorers are no longer SUV's of old, they've fallen prey to the crossover gheyness world to meet consumer's designs. Tahoe by far craps all over it if you are looking to have an actual work vehicle instead of a commuter turd.

I can't tell the difference. The spare one in my sort of parts box or whatever is a BCM, but I would have no hesitation running a PSA prem or certainly an Aero.

This ^, the BCM and PSA premium are pretty much identical (carpenter no.158 steel bolt, shot peened, chrome lined carrier/gas key, tool steel extractor, mil-spec stake, hpt/mpi tested) except the psa is on sale for $90 instead of $170.

Well, 99% of what the general population does (probably closer to 99.99999%, btw) would be well served with either. The difference comes in towing, as far as I am concerned. I don't tow things. So, yeah, I'd probably be good.

This is also true. Tahoe is easily the most universal soccer mom vehicle in history (edging out the Caravan). I'd be curious to see what the differences are in towing capacity as far as the Uhaul talk goes.

I was shopping for a tahoe and changed my mind after realizing I'm gonna give up my truck bed. Now I'm looking at 2014-16 gmc Sierras. Just waiting on my other house to sell because I don't feel like having 2 mortgages and 2 car payments at the same time.

BTW, there is a lot to be said for taking a second to consider how you actually use vehicles. For someone that doesn't use a truck that often (almost everyone), renting one when you need it or owning a small trailer is a really good alternative. Obviously, get what you want, of course.

I use my truck pretty regularly. An SUV would suit me fine but I honestly just like driving a truck. Plus it's cheaper and I think it looks cooler.


Eta the truck will be better for picking up car parts while I build the trans am too.

It was a joke because last I tried (year or two ago?) U-Haul still wouldn't rent trailers to be pulled by Explorers, because of the Firestone tire rollover thing way back in the day.

After going from three consecutive pick-ups to my current SUV, I'm going back to a pick-up for my next vehicle.
After a dozen years of having a truck bed, it's hard to give it up. I've been happy with my Xterra, but it's not a pick-up.

I bought an 89 Chevy 1500 a few years ago because I wanted to have a truck. Drove it about twice a year and finally got rid of it last month lol. I love trucks, but I just have no use for one right now. 72 miles each way to work, I ain't driving a ****ing truck to work.

I want to buy another handgun. But I really have no reason to. I really doubt if anything will replace my G19 for everyday carry. I wouldn't mind having a VP9 or maybe a CZ though..

Maybe I should buy an M92 and wait for SBRs to no longer be subject to NFA rules.

I work a lot of my vehicles beyond what they are meant for, the absolute hell with anything that isn't able to tow worth a damn. I can't honestly say I have experience with the newer explorers, but is it really that hard to see the difference in them?

Yes, tahoes are a prime candidate for soccer moms, but those soccer moms can go more places, tow more ****, and keep their dignity all at the same time.

Yeah, I think it's just you. Most people don't buy an Explorer or a Tahoe to take off roading or tow stuff all the time. That's why there are Jeeps and diesel trucks.

Aren't the Tahoe and Explorer in different classes of SUV anyway? I thought the Tahoe was bigger, more comparable to an Expedition.

I know that in general, my Subaru Forester has had better or similar ground clearance when compared to Tahoes and the like.


What do you tow that's 5k plus? And for how many miles a year?

Yes, the Tahoe is the Expedition's parallel. They are rather different in size, build, and price. Tahoe is still basically a truck, Explorer is not. Definite price difference.
