When I'm cutting weight (right now) I used EC but mostly just for the appetite suppressing quality. The stimulant effects are helpful as well, but for me not really needed.
When not cutting weight, I don't use a PWO, well, at most I just eat a tbsp or two of honey lol

Last workstation I replaced, I got a sinus infection for 3 weeks. Took two trips to the doc. A week after I got sick, I found the computer I replaced it was covered in dust.
I am no longer going to replace workstations without a mask. That way I will at least get to explain to them how disgusting they are.

That being said... for these upgrades I've gone from mild mannered to "**** it I'm all in", so I'll probably get the 1080.
ETA:
That 780 was the flag ship Nvidia card (sans Titan) at the time I bought it, I think it was about $700. It has been a great card, still is, so I'll probably get the 1080 indeed as over the course of time I think it's the best value.

I'm fine with a shake and/or pwo pre-workout in the morning (or even training fasted, which I did for a long time). What I absolutely cannot do is eat real food and then go work out. Express train to vomit town.
