because at a societal/species level it's not good for us. no one knows the mysteries of life but it's pretty clear that the only real goal and purpose that we have is to create offspring and continue the survival of the species. for that to occur in humans we need the people with dinks to bang the people with vaginas. and we need the people with dinks to be attracted to the people with vaginas, and vice versa, so that the dinks get hard and the puss get wet. the acceptance and at times full-blown promotion of identifying as apache helicopters and whatever else only plants seeds in the minds of the young and results in more people "realising" that they were "born with the soul of a cabbage/chopper/<insert whatever word you want here>" and hacking off their genitalia.

+1 that it's a mental illness. and rather than being viewed as such, and trying to help these people, we've decided we're instead going to promote it. it's gonna result in less people who are physically able to reproduce and that's not good for the species.

Huh, where are they picking those ques up from? Do chimps consume western media? Do they see their dad playing with trucks?

And explain away that one mad scientist who raised his boy as a daughter? Why, despite being told since birth he was a girl, did he feel the need to act and take on the mannerisms of boys? If it's all a social construct, he should of fell in line with being a girl throughout his early years.

And the existence of trans people supports the notion that there is a biological component to "feeling" like a male or female. Otherwise, why would trans people exist? If someone is born a male, and is raised (socially conditioned) as such, how could he feel some unwavering urge to be female? What variable is causing that? It can't be social conditioning because he was being conditioned as a male since birth and is going against that.

I've never heard of a tranny feeling they were an attack helicopter trapped in a man's body, because even they know there are only two genders.

Fine, but when they start demanding laws be changed so they can use the womens' room, that's when I start caring. Or when they jump down your throat for using the wrong pronoun LMFAO

What you're saying may be objectively true, but most of the kids experimenting with various genders is not because they were oppressed by society. They're just a bunch of kids trying to find their voice and rebel. It's unfortunate that experimenting with gender definitions is a popular means of doing it nowadays cause I think it does disservice to the very small number of people who feel biologically compelled to very unconventional gender roles as opposed to choosing one cause they're 16 and it's a way of defining who you are.

I'm from LA and frequent nightlife in areas where I've spent a lot of drunken early mornings talking to every kind of human outside of bars/clubs. After seeing the 20th or 30th guy dressed as a girl identifying as this or that or vice versa it just doesn't matter as much anymore. I literally wouldn't even double take if I see a 6'5" guy in a dress asking me to call him "them". Don't give a fuk.

What's my point? It's a fad and it will fade away. In 20 years, enough kids would have grown up reading about all these "genders" even in the most conservative counties that everyone will simply stop giving a chit. Remember when rock'n'roll, sex and weed were rebellious? Now they just play tribute shows in tiny clubs in hollywood while all the kids are raving, popping molly like candy, etc. Once the luster wears off after everyone has beaten this "gender issue" to death we'll go back right back to male/female and not giving a fuk anymore. The kids will find something new.

Wrong. Yes specific gender roles and obligations that are expected of each by a society, are created by that society. But male and female are biological realities.

I don't think anyone has a problem with dykes and twinks. Some people adopt mannerisms of the opposite sex and the line is blurred. Fine. Those are outliers and to be expected. But transgenders are an entirely different thing. They literally chop away at their body, take a belt sander to their bones, and inject hormones into themselves in order to try to change their BIOLOGICAL sex. Now, if it were the case that gender is purely a societal invention, then how is it possible that someone is born into the wrong gender? That's a contradiction. You can't have it both ways.

Either one, there is such a thing as male and female minds and some people get born with mismatching bodies. In which case gender is a biological construct not a societal one. Or two, male and female minds are not biologically innate, in which case transgenders are literally mentally insane for destroying their bodies to match their identified gender.

Ironically, transgendered people are pretty solid proof that gender and sex are bound at birth. If gender wasn't biological, then why do they feel such an extreme need to make their body match with their mind?

As far as social constructs go, wouldn't there just be male/female/trans/intersex/non-gender

Doesn't that explain most of them?

I guess that's true, because both trans are trying to be the opposite core gender. And intersex usually conform to one or the other.

I'm in the "dont give a fuk camp" but it is a dangerous path we're going down. The fact that it is being normalised and encouraged is highly disturbing. All you have to do is look at places like Sweden where they're already choosing what kids can play with or not or getting rid of male/female pronounds etc. Not to mention the amount of news articles you get weekly about how some five year old decided he's not a boy and instead wants to be a girl vice versa. These are just kids, they dont know chit and we're actively trying questioning or encouraging them to choose a "Sex" they feel most comfortable with.

There's also the fact that mutilating your own genitals and injecting all sorts of hormones in your body to change the sex you were born with is somehow considered normal and not the actions of a mentally ill person. Pretty sure there are stats as well that say that trans people are never happy even after transitioning and some unfortunately kill themselves. That is sad, I'd rather help these people than encourage them. Are we soon going to classify something like schizophrenia as the condition of a person who has a vivid imagination and let them play out their delusions?

Maybe I'm not learned on this subject too much and hell they might have been feeling like that since they were children, but it aint normal. I "accept" them but I will never support or encourage transjennery.

Humans are a sexually dimorphic species with two sexes. At birth we are assigned a sex: male or female. Gender is a socially constructed concept often used to try to get around that. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Sexual dichotomy is technically wrong, as 1/1000 people are born intersex with ambiguous genitalia. But for the most part, you are right.

Much of the misc is uneducated when it comes to social sciences. You can clearly see it when they foolishly say social sciences aren't real sciences, despite the fact that social sciences employ the scientific method and are also a "body of knowledge."

how can someone possibly 'feel' like a women?

For example, I'm a man but how could I possibly know if this is how it 'feels' to be a man?

Trans = mental illness

Also, if gender is a social construct, how can a trans person feel like a man or a women? if those things arnt even real.............................

Male or Female to me. XY or XX chromosomes.

That said, I'm morally all for personal autonomy, so they can do whatever the fuk they want, even if I don't like it.

As long as they aren't in my face about it or get pissed at me for "assuming" their gender, they can do whatever the fuk they want.

In that vein, would you say that children or the current generation, being targeted with a new narrative of transgender or even homosexual as being a "popular" thing instead of a small marginal number of people contributes to people falsely identifying as such due to more shallow reasons than biology, like social conditioning? Or that such encouragement might prove detrimental in the long run if that's the case?

Not Op but am a doctor, biological sex extends to more than just having a dik or vag. Males and females have different hormones, brains etc. We're more than just physically different due to hormones we're exposed to while were in the womb. Males have more testosterone than females and the way their brain reacts to test increases aggression which is why males may be more likely to like more contact sports etc. Female brains release more oxytocin which is a nurturing hormone which makes them more likely to like to play with baby dolls. Even with this said, nature and nuture gets mixed up sometimes and things get wonky.

ITT OP argues that he's right and others are wrong because of the definition of the word "gender."

You're right OP, what is expected of males and females in societal behavior is a social construct. However you are wrong in saying that "gender" is only referencing said societal behaviors, it includes biological sex as well. Do you know what "synonym" means bruh?
