I mean trying to argue the value of specific sources in terms of digestible content has it's merits. But that is not what the OP is talking about in the slightest. I'd have to agree with you though. The fact that people can't use google to figure out where whey protein comes from blows my mind.

Surely whey is the one legitimate "supplement." It's just protein with a complete amino acid profile. Sure it doesn't benefit you anymore than egg whites/chicken breast, but it's convenient and relatively cheap. I don't really even consider it a "supplement," but rather just a grocery item...

With all the BS crap out there produced by supplement companies, complete with flimsy/falsified "studies," people choose whey... Lmao.

Edit: Lol'd at "chemical substitute" for protein.
Repped. Whey is food. If you've ever made home made greek yogurt, you'd know that you end up with a ton of whey that separates from the milk. Calling whey a supplement is kind of disingenuous.

If you want to bitch about the supplement industry, why not PWO's, BCAA's, or any of the other retarded crap supplement companies sell?

I'm also confused why so many people say it's "easy" to get all the protein you need. I guess with unlimited time and budget, but for most people with jobs, taking whey is a quick way to make sure you can hit your macro targets.

These right here. Anything beyond the scope of these statements and you're asking a product like whey protein powder to do more for you than it is intended to.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

STRONG THIS.

People don't seem to be able to comprehend this. It is 1-1.5g of proteinPER KILOGRAM, not per pound of weight. Studies have been done on 0.6g-0.8g/per pound, 0.9/lb+ showed 0 benefit in any study on performance or muscle building. And actually, all of that extra protein that your body doesn't need, is converted to fat....

MISC ADVICE:

BRB - 1-1.5g of protonz per pound.
BRB - avg 200 pound male, eats 300g of protonz daily
BRB - 100G+ daily converted to fat and/or completely wasted

It is no wonder some people make 0 progress with this stuff.

I agree at 160 I shoot for 100-120 grams. Super high protein diets aren't particularly good for you. If I was dat dering it up I would probably shoot for 160 or more though because I would assume I would be rebuilding a lot more but that would be pure speculation on my part.

So if I eat nothing but 1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight, which is around 1500 calories @250lbs, I will magically convert that extra protein to fat?

Notice a huge difference if I cram a couple protein shakes in with my diet especially post-workout. Seem to get a lot less sore.

Whey is a waste of money. The only people who will tell you to take it are those selling it or those getting paid to pretend they take it

I'm going to run a study where I take two identical twins and put them on the same routine, but one twin would be eating nothing but whey for protein and the other twin would be eating whole food for protein, and see what they look like after a year or two.

"converted to fat" is technically incorrect. Any protein that is not used in muscle building or repair, loses its nitrogen and is available to be used for fuel (converted to ATP) if the body is low on glucose. If the body has sufficient glucose, the protein is then "stored as fat" however, the energy required to convert this protein to a triglyceride is "equivalent" to the energy the protein supplied the body with.

people saying its not that hard to get your protein in, obviously have never had to count macros.

That said, whey should only be used as a supplement. Real food should be priority. I get a scoop or two a day when I need it. But that's about it.

Either way, in an instance where all things are balances as required, it is not stored. But lettuce be real-tea, I am more than willing to bet 99% of the people on this forum, don't fall into the balanced category.
