What again does the left gain from getting people to take steps to combat climate change?
The left has nothing to gain by making the earth more inhabitable for future generations. It's a nonsensical argument by derp conservatives.

Lol the anti-intellectual conservatives have shown up in droves.

Anyone who is smart and knowledgeable is their enemy and automatically a liberal.

They scream conspiracy yet do climate (acknowledgers?) keep using the oil companies conspiracy as an argument? No.

Because skepticism does not build good arguments.

Ok, lets use our brains for a second. The carbon credit only exists as an idea because left to our own devices WE WILL NOT CHANGE OUR WAYS. Thats it. If there wasnt a collective action problem, there would be no carbon tax. What we need to do is turn green and stop burning carbon, but we wont unless it hurts us in some way. So, carbon tax. Has nothing to do with the legitimacy of man made climate change

Oil companies on the other hand will die and lose riches if we move away from carbon as a society.

I liked how people skipped over my statement which holds more value than anything in this thread.

It is real and all you have to do is be a south born and raised 30 years old and remember how it used to be when you were 10.

Like I pointed out. Anyone in this thread who even questions their God of climate change is immediately branded an idiot. Kalamah does nothing but claim all conservatives are intellectually devoid of merit. Odd, considering plenty of engineering/STEM brahs here on the Misc are conservatives. I guess STEMmies are morons.

how does going green automatically result in higher taxes and a bigger government?

the only reason it is happening is because people arent changing

Idiot or severely stubborn.

I'm just not buying into the whole "conspiracy" as an argument. It doesn't conclude that itisn'ta conspiracy - but there needs to be wayyy more compelling evidence if they're gonna go that route.

I used to believe climate change was a serious issue that needed immediate attention...

Cool story brah. We both know I'm not an idiot, I just don't trust anything from a certain political persuasion. I may be a lot of things, but an idiot isn't one of them. Healthy (even unhealthy) skepticism is a sign of intelligence, not stupidity. Blindly following what you're told? That's another story. You say there's "evidence" but since you're not qualified to discern whether or not that evidence is legitimate, and you're just blindly believing it "on faith" (as other climate change supporters in this thread have admitted to doing) because "surely those scientists can't have an agenda and would never lie", well... You get the idea. You're the one going on faith. You're the one believing without being able to verify your evidence.

There claim is that because we need regulations and taxes to promote change, it's a conspiracy.

Ignoring the basic reasoning that follows from the assumption that man made climate change is real(true) and nobody will do anything about it UNLESS there were regulations and taxes(true).

By the way, I'm a far right conservative. I dont care about climate change because I will be dead before the impact occurs. But to deny this is legit, with all of the science behind it, is moronic

Except you have made yourself sound like an idiot. If all these scientists are liberals who are just putting out **** to further their agenda then prove it. Show us what sloppy mistakes they have made in their papers to make the evidence fit what they want it to say, explain to us what is actually happening instead with the evidence to show it. But you can't.

I have looked at the science and it makes sense to me as far as I can understand it.

These scientists have nothing to gain whatsoever. they and the liberals are just trying to prevent the planet from being destroyed because they give a s*it, while the conservatives just want to put profit over everything and let the world burn. thats what it comes down to, and you're an idiot if you cant see that

I don't agree with your interpretation of data you admittedly have little to no understanding of, ergo I'm the idiot.

You can't prove anything either. All you have is data from questionable sources that you can't even interpret because you're not a fukcing environmental scientist.

What evidence????

NOBODY IS SAYING THERE ISNT A TINY TINY EFFECT.

All the evidence says that.

That is not evidence for a problem or epidemic.

Its literally just a basic simple fact.

If you pee in the ocean the statement "humans are affecting the oceans" is true.

You can poll 1000 scientists to say, "is there pee in the ocean?"

yes there is!

SCIENTIFIC CONCENSUS!!!

Spoiler!

Hard to say. Again, if the whole carbon credit/push to tax people for using fossil fuels was 100% dropped, it'd help.

have you ever heard of a collective action problem? Its when nobody has an incentive to do the right thing.

thats all the carbon tax is, it is simply to force countries, businesses, and people to do the right thing. Without a carbon tax, why would anyone go green for the sake of a future generation they dont care about?

they wouldnt. it is not a conspiracy man

Well that's a huge leap of faith there buckaroo. Even if we can all come to the consensus that A) Man-made climate change exists, and B) There are negative effects as a result, it's a huge stretch to leap to C) These negative effects will result in the destruction of the planet.

Again, you're stating your definition of doing the "right thing" when you admittedly don't even understand the data you've looked at. If you don't have a certainty of what the cause of the problem is (assuming a problem even exists, which you can't be sure of), you also can't be sure of the correct course of action to solve that problem.

What do you mean destruction???

Like how?

And what time frames?

What is the estimated damage over time? And to what degree?

What exactly is supposed to happen? and why?

When?

And how much can we do, while still functioning as a healthy economy?

How will future exponential over-population human race deal with this?

How do you calculate such things?

Or have you not actually figured any of this out, just complaining about abstract emotionally loaded concepts?

I'm climate agnostic.

The only agencies with access to the real data are NASA/NOAA/IPCC and they've been proven to be frauding with unmotivated changes to the sensor bias values. Temperature data is presented as hard fact, but the reality is that any effects we are discussing and setting policy for is created by these agencies. We are acting on theory, not on data. And the people who make the theory are getting paid proportionally to the size of the problem.
