Are people still talking about Al Gore when discussing climate change? Seriously? How is he even relevant? Do you really believe Al Gore was the pioneer of global warming and climate change?

I seem to remember people taking his words and the word of his movie as gospel. But I'm sure you conveniently forgot about all those people back then. Just pivot by changing from "global warming" to something more vague like "climate change" and re-brand the movement.

You have me mistaken for someone else, I never made any assertions about NASA.

But since NASA's modern data seemingly contradicts its earlier predictions about the melting ice caps, you can understand how logical individuals might be skeptical about global warming.

Except it isn't really a contradiction. Net ice on ice sheets IS declining.

And there are explanations for why the Antarctic is seeing a (slowing) increase.

Why does this tard keep posting that video in response to things? It explains nothing.

The guy LITERALLY says word for word:

"The increase we're seeing in the Antarctic extent is, a little bit of a mystery"

Yet you keep posting it like it explains something.

The point is there are record colds, and low temperatures globally.

There is no general difference in weather.

Thats how the ice caps are this century.

Nobody knows weather they will increase or decrease in the next century.

So far doomsday predictions have been non-sense.

All this human presence is not as intense as we assume it is on the planet. (compared to a Volcano etc)

The earth will not become un-inhabitable.

There is no evidence suggesting that.

A reduction in ice does not mean Ice will be all gone. As long as we are not getting further or closer to the sun we are fine.

Why/how a scientific issue became purely political points more towards our flaws as a species. That has me more worried than polar caps melting.

The earth definitely goes into and out of desolation phases. No one knows how close we are to one but almost everyone agrees that one is coming eventually and that we definitely seem to be speeding things up.

Great read here regarding Cooks 97% consensus paper

This interviews several of the very scientists that Cook et al cited in the 97% paper, and they're not happy Cook very inaccurately represented their papers
http://www.populartechnology.net/201...cientists.html

One of the clearest facts we have the debate is that the 97% consensus is baloney

It's in no way a contradiction. It's science.

For a start, Antarctica's increase does not offset a global overall decrease.
Secondly, even the author of the paper acknowledges it isn't likely to continue increasing in the mid-term.
Thirdly, there are big differences between the Artic and Antarctica in terms of the Antarctic ice sheets forming off a continent which doesn't occur with the Artic, the lack of Ozone layer over Antarctica which has caused changes in wind patterns and the fact the Artic doesn't have anything equiv of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current which shields the Antarctic in the short term from sea temperature rises.
Fourthly, it in no way mitigates the fact that every mean temperature study of the globe is finding that it is increasing.

-A strong scientific theory makes solid predictions that are testable. Climate change scientists use computer models to predict future temperature rises, which have proven incorrect until now because they are based on incorrect mathematics that grossly exaggerate trends. This video explains the flaw in the math behind all climate change models, and there is a paper close to publication on the matter.

-The best evidence, from raw satellite data not flawed models, suggests that solar activity drives changes to the climate whether it's warming or cooling. This is politically inconvenient because socialists can't tax the sun. Here are 100 published papers that come to this conclusion, and which have been ignored by the mainstream media.

Does the world have serious challenges to face with climate, environment and access to water?? Definitely.

Is climate change a thing? Probably not.

The wheels are coming off the wagon, slowly but surely...hence why the lobby is getting more desperate
there are real challenges that countries in both the developing and developed world have to face in order to ensure they can provide sustainable communities to its inhabitants...climate change is just a sham job to monetize carbon offset and hold developing countries to ransom. Much of the developments which have seen vast reductions in carbon output have come from the use of fracking and nuclear power...but the lefty idiots would have you believe these are terrible.

Most renewable energies are garbage and offer very little real value for money for the cost of infrastructure required. Things like solar power require massive amounts of real estate before one can see any tangible benefit from it. Have a look at some of the solar farms in turkey (I think) and the US...at best they can power a single city. Battery technology is still way behind and storage methods are highly inefficient. Storage capacity being a major bottleneck in the viability of many renewable energy sources.

Dont believe the hype about Germany getting most of the energy from solar/wind/renewables. Its hogwash.

https://www.ft.com/content/719ea15e-...f-21b88f7d973f
http://www.the-american-interest.com...r-two-decades/

Here's a conspiracy theory for you. There is lots of talk about the war on Syria being largely about the aim to build a gas pipeline through syria straight into turkey and central europe...helping to reduce reliance on russian gas from Ukraine.

The whole renewable energy thing is one big lie.

Let see how we arrived at this point:
- Claim: Polar ice sheets are melting. Man made GW clearly must be the cause.
- I post 2015 NASA data saying that the Antarctic ice sheet has grown in recent years.
- Responds with no data or further contemporary evidence. Only repetition of older evidence of arctic (not antarctic) ice sheet shrinking.

This creates a conundrum for people in your camp. Either A) you have inadvertently stumbled upon a previously unknown force that grows Antarctic ice while simultaneously melting that arctic ice. Or B) The Occam's razor approach: that the predictive computer models showing a warming trend were mistaken or flawed in some way.

Even without the NOAA and East Anglia Scandals where the pro GW's were caught falsifying data, you still have a justifiable reason to be skeptical of the Global Warming fanaticism from the left. The left after all, has much to gain from the control that comes with restriction of carbon emissions. Global Warming also made Al Gore a man of 700,000 net worth to a decamillionare.

This article provides some explanation for the decrease of arctic ice with increasing in antarctic, but as always we keep in mind science and discovery is a slow process while denial is a quick one. Jumping to conclusions in either direction isn't productive, but we should be doing what we can to protect the environment rather than resume and expand activity that has a likely outcome of affecting our environment negatively (based on what science we have now). We're better off safe than sorry. There are equally as many right wing nuts as left when it comes to this. The right has as much to gain from the expansion of carbon emissions and fossil fuels as the left does from the restriction, science and politics should never intertwine. Examples: tobacco, select drugs, abortion (for more than scientific reasons), climate change, scientific exploration.

[QUOTE=Dumika post_id=1478184581]We should protect the environment, even if global warming is a hoax.

Who wants to live in conditions like this?
