Please don't use false grip (suicide grip) while benching...
Many know what this is...

A guy in my city was training at a gym on Monday (not ours), unracked 315 using false grip, the bar rolled out of his hands, crushed his trachea and severed spine...died almost instantly. Be smart and use regular grip; this chit is dangerous!

Also with bars at the gym already bent, it's pure suicide... hence the name.
Can someone explain why people even use it?

i use thumbless grip on some pushing exercises like machine incline hammer press cuz it helps push w/ your chest
I'd never try it with 3 plates on a bar though, lol.

One of the best ways it was explained to me is that if you're going to punch someone, what position is your wrist going to be in?
-your wrist is going to be straight as that generates the most power and stability
-your wrist is NOT going to be bent upwards and striking with your palm
That little tip right there really made me sort of think differently about how bench pressing is actually performed. It really is just contracting your muscles and punching directly to the ceiling.

It seems like the natural thing for the weight to do with your thumbs tucked like that. That's some arrogant chit...gotta respect the weight at all times.

That is brutal. Suicide grip and no spotters or safeties. Just doesn't make any sense.
