Sometimes it's more comfortable. I've noticed my shoulder hurts less with suicide/false grip, but then again I never use it if I'm putting 205+ lbs. Mostly for warmups.

Just LOL if you aren't doing these with a suicide grip
I feel like these always give me a good tricep workout. Just don't be retard and put 225 lol
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

One of the best ways it was explained to me is that if you're going to punch someone, what position is your wrist going to be in?
-your wrist is going to be straight as that generates the most power and stability
-your wrist is NOT going to be bent upwards and striking with your palm

That little tip right there really made me sort of think differently about how bench pressing is actually performed. It really is just contracting your muscles and punching directly to the ceiling.
This doesn't hold true since you're not trying to balance the bar on your fist. Open handed strikes are a thing, and they are powerful too, these are what you should be comparing benching to. There is no leverage acting on your wrist as the strike (or bar in benchpress) is at the base of your palm.

People with sore shoulders etc probably just have their elbows up too much.

It's right in the damn name why you shouldn't do it. They put it right there so everyone would understand but that wasn't obvious enough for this guy.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Don't think I've ever done it on any lift except light close grip bench press at waist level with an ez curl. I hate benching enough as it is. DB press or nothing crew.

Apparently the grip was lost at the unrack so I don't even know of the spotter had a chance.

IF you really wanted to use suicide grip, could you use straps to make it safe? The bar won't roll cause of the straps (assuming you keep your fingers over the strap) and you still get the benefit of the suicide grip?

I use suicide grip for all my OHP press sets and used to use it all the time for bench press. Normal grip for OHP just feels extremely unnatural and a lot weaker. But after seeing the result I think its probably not a good idea. That weight drops faster than your reaction time and you'd be paralyzed doing OHP

Anyways the reason the suicide grip is better mechanically is because it allows you to press through the inner palm, which is normally blocked by the thumb gripping the bar.

Hope they realize that. I mean, under any conditions, trying to catch 315 is not going to be easy. Especially if the guy used that weight regularly. Spotters probably figure their job is to help if he's stuck, not to catch the weight. That's what safeties are for.

Anyone know that feel of wrists snapping backwards quickly while holding the bar but still holding on to it or is that just me with my 6.5 inch wrists of peace...

I use it on the smith machine or cable machines. Plus carefully and mindfully. Heavy free weights = wtf.

I notice a lot of BB'ers like Rich Piana do it.

Well if someone knows a better way let me know, otherwise I'll have to keep doing suicide grip on certain exercises because of my small womanly hands. Feels more comfortable on the hand/wrist joints. People who do it in powerlifting though is pretty ****ing scary.

Seen a couple of these vids before and make me fuking cringe. Haven't seen any of people actually dying but it's fuking scary watching these people drop 300+lbs on them and struggling to get out.

Someone posted one the other day and the guy dropped it on his neck but he didn't have clips on and it actually saved his life.
