I refuse to even spot anybody who uses it...if it slips and falls, there is nothing a spotter can do and I wouldnt want that on my conscience...

well i use it, but "pump crew", don't use heavy weight.

yes, i realize the bar alone at the right angle dropped can kill me.

will switch to thumb grip, as it really doesn't affect me.

thanks for looking out bobby, will give you handy j irl if i see you (full thumb grip of course, no homo).

I'd never do this and I've seen much stronger benchers than myself do it and cringe. After the vid of the kid who died doing 4 plates I would never even consider it. Heck I dropped some warm up weights on myself on accident 3 weeks ago and my ribs are still bruised. Really taught me a lesson

I will always use suicide grip when benching. There is no reason for it to be rolling out of your hands imo. People make mistakes and that's why they are paying for it. Most common is treating suicide with regular grip when their wrists should be bent more. I always have a proper spotter who knows how I lift.

Talking about this makes me want to lift again.

I've never understood why people use that grip. Like what is the point? It's not natural or intuitive. It offers no benefit. I just don't get it...

I've always used suicide grip, hell even do thumbless pullups. It's just always felt better and more natural to me. Guess its a habit I should try and break.

I do thumbless pullups because it's more comfortable, however I don't have the risk of dieing which is great. Never suicide for bench

I've always thought the point was to disengage the muscles in the arm, to help target the pecs when benching

don't get me wrong, it's retarded, but I think this is the potato reasoning for some

exactly this I do weighted pull ups all the time but I won't die from these lol no way in hell I would do a heavy ass bench with suicide.

might as well start benching with a carrot up my ass.

I prefer the sleeper grip where you sit on your hands until they go numb, it feels like something else is benching for you.

Only suicide grips the bar when doing back squats crew checking in.

Still alive crew checking in.

Can confirm dangers of open palm grip bar presses. Saw a guy get pinned under the bar trying close grip bench with open palm grip but I think part of that was just him being retarded thinking he could close grip the same amount of weight he was barely getting 3 reps with on wider grip.

Nothing wrong with thumbless pullups as far as I can tell. In fact I do almost all my pulling exercises thumbless. I think some people would tell you that you'd have a stronger grip if you wrapped your thumbs around the bar, but meh, thumbless seems to work just fine on many pulling exercises and feels more natural.

Thumbless bench otoh is retardit.

You guys do realize that in most of these videos where the bar slips out, it's not a thumbless grip, right?

I don't know why it happens. I guess the grip just gives out.
