Drink four parts whipping cream one part sugar. Cook your bacon in butter. You should be on a first name basis with the employees at Cinnabon and the buffets in town.

Thanks brah. Yea it did, which is why I did it. Squat blew up the most. Bench was going up but slowly, deadlift shot up. OHP was the biggest behind squat. On the path to doing this again haha.

He? Your teacher was a man? There's your answer.

There is a tendency for dudes to prefer being monsters instead of dieting and getting small like lingerie models.

You did strength training for strength? Madness!

Never mind the manlets and scrawny dudes. They like to focus on being cut as they will never know what it is to be massive.

You can't be a real man unless you shave your body, diet like a supermodel, tan, and pose in a thong for an audience primarily consisting of other dudes.

Also, remember to oil up. No hetero.

Like many before him he had the mistaken assumption that size alone indicates superior strength, ability, etc. Because he needed to maintain a position of authority -- as the teacher -- I allowed him to continue to think that. Unlike others I've met that needed to learn otherwise.

Size alone isn't the only factor to determine such things. It is a very big factor, tho.

people are afraid to actually eat. I always was the "derp derp whatever I eat I can't gain weight". Until I started actually tracking what I ate and lifting as heavy as I could, went from 150 to 180 in about a year. 180 to 210 the next 3 months with help.

My go to was
3-4 cups milk, 450-600cal
1 cup blended oatmeal, 300 cal
add a scoop of whey and you are close to 1000 calories.
Drink 2-3 of these a day ontop of whatever you eat.

Eat more
eat less
if you have to ask, you should probably just run starting strength for a year

I would add "actually lift heavy and progress over time". But Starting Strength does a better job showing that than I do telling it.

Hardest part for me was when I got advanced enough that I had to realize you can't max out all the time. That blew my mind after spending so long being able to just add more weight each workout.

Only if you want to be a strong man. Not the main focus on this site.

Lifting heavy all the time can result in injury and do more harm than good.

Works fine for the first year or two when those noob gains are incoming. Had to adjust and lift submax loads for way more volume to progress after that.

Modified 5/3/1 FTW.

The trick is to eat more while increasing your weights and workout intensity. Overtraining is only a problem for the highest level athletes, must people are just under-eating and under-recovering.

Before attempting any of this you need to undertake one very important step, try not to be such a little punk.

I have no problem with either. I figured the point of strength training was to get strong.

Not sure I'd bother lifting weights if strength or size weren't my goal. Cardio and not eating are better for getting small than barbells.

The point of BB.comis to improveaesthetics. That's predominantly size. Strength, is merely a convenient side-effect, and why nobody asks Mr. O how much he can bench.

Since anybody can gain weight just by eating junk food all day, I'm pretty sure OP is referring to gaining muscular weight.

No, Tech is right. There is room for error in volume, frequency, and intensity. Assuming you're not lifting like a pussy or living in the gym, if you're not gaining weight then eat more food. This is not rocket science.

maybe someone is conspiring against you and labeling the nutrition info on your food packages wrong so that you don't gain weight but think you're eating a lot. it can only be revenge from the lizard overlords for getting too close to finding the truth about China and dinosaurs.

He has been asked. Repeatedly. Heath claims that he has benched 505 lbs.

And if you are lifting for size, rules are the same. Progression in weight and reps of your lifts while eating more. If you aren't looking for strength or size, you don't need to lift.
