At night I usually walk around with my Kevlar helmet on and night vision goggles equipped with a taser and a Desert Eagle constantly checking my surroundings for potential attackers even when going to public venues or a date.

Problem is you still have institutions that blame the woman. We just had a huge systematic issue with that at Baylor.

the walking fast thing is for real. i noticed them doing that. my theory was the faster they walk, the less time they are out in public and less chances to get approached. looks like i may have been right

For my it instantly happens. Whenever I am out, I instantly look up and assess everything and anything in front of me instantly. Total awareness, no surprises.

My gf on the otherhand has negative awareness. Like srsly no awareness. She will walk into people. Walk into things. Zone out and cause people to bump into her. Not pay attention when driving and miss stops. Use GPS and blow past the stop. Parks outside of my house and I will walk up to the window of the driver's side and just stare at her for 30 secs till she realizes and screams.

It's amazing how many people are totally zoned out and in their own world or on the phone when they are in public. Not being observant of your surroundings is a death wish.

I visually scan the area every 5-15 seconds to identify potential threats. I am constantly assessing possible escape routes in the event of a threat. If I see a potential threat, I calculate if I am within range to incapacitate the potential threats, how to best ensure my own safety, and if possible the safety of others.

I look at the man fidgeting on the bus. Is he fidgeting because he's preparing to shoot up the bus, or is he fidgeting because he is suffering from Parkinson's? I don't know, and I need to determine this by using different analytical metrics and FBI crime statistics that I memorize when I have the time. I use this information to determine whether or not I should vacate the area or, if necessary, restrain the individual.

I see a man wearing a trench coat and a guitar case. Is this man the next columbine killer and his guitar case is storing an AK-47 and explosives, or is this guy just a depressed goth kid. I don't know, and I need to quickly identify the potential threat an act accordingly.

I'm walking downtown and it looks like there is a panhandler two blocks up. At this stage I need to have an understanding of the block by block crime statistics. Is this man just going to beg me for change or is he going to violently accost me or potentially try to make a move on me? Do I need to change routes to evade the potential threat or press on? I don't know. I have to use various metrics to assess the overall threat level at the time and act accordingly.

I see a businessman leave his suitcase on the train. Did he forget his suitcase or is his suitcase an improvised explosive device? I don't know. This businessman appeared to be south asian. Is he an Indian or a Pakistani. If he is an Indian, is he a islamic extremist or a peaceful hindu, a peaceful sikh, or a radical buddhist separatist? I don't know. Should I vacate the train quite, scream and tell everybody to exit immediately, attempt to diffuse the possible bomb, or politely tell the Indian man that he left his suitcase on the train as he is leaving.

These are all things that need to be taken into consideration. Some people call it "profiling." I call it "prolonging." Prolonging my life, that is.

Many people talk about defensive driving, but how many people practice defensive LIVING?

Parking next to a light at night, checking their surroundings at all times, bring a buddy with u, keep headphones so no one talks to you, walk fast, etc. One girl even said as she walks she checks for escape routes in case something happens. I never thought about any of this as a male.
All of these tactics aren't going to do much...brb wearing headphones?? That will only make you less situationally aware. If they actually want to be prepared for a situation they should do like me and conceal carry.

Not all countries have the rights to bear arms. Also risky for upping the ante.

I have no experience but assume that if a dude jumps you from behind cos you aren't aware of your surroundings and floors you the chances of you accessing and usefully employing a concealed carry weapon are slim

Women have to be much more careful when they are restricted from carrying guns and especially in "multicultural" cities that have much higher crime rates.

Where the hell in this country restricts women from carrying guns? Your ghettos are where you absolutely need to be prepared.

You seriously want to debate this? I was highlighting the creepiest and savagest I know of, but a simple Google search, reading YOUR local paper, or watching your news would tell you it's dangerous in BC. Thanks for the negs homo.

Probably the most shocking case was the random attack on 13-year-old Letisha Reimer in a hallway at Abbotsford Secondary on Nov. 1 when she was fatally stabbed and a classmate was wounded. The attack was captured on video. Police arrested drifter Gabriel Klein, 21, who is now charged with second-degree murder.

It's actually like a lifelong dream of mine to park in a dark parking lot, and get raped by 4 aggressive women. I find myself purposely parking in darker areas, or taking new alleyways home each night in hopes that this will happen to me one day.

That's not true for muzzie, she's an ethnic minority.

Men make up the majority of victims of violence, and; LGBT people, men under 25, and ethnic minorities make up the disproportionate victims of violence.

Maybe, one of the reasons why women are less likely to be victims is because they generally are paranoid/aware of potential dangers.
