Because in this great country we pay a set fee, which usually includes unlimited texting. So we don't need to use 3rd party apps like other countries would need to eat up our phone cards or however you guys pay for your phones.

Plus most people use iPhones which use imessage and that's free.

Maybe people who use Boost Mobile use whatsapp

Kik was what we used in high school
Whatsapp is what I prefer, and I use it to talk with european/latin american ones
Wechat I use to talk to malays and indonesians
Line is what I use for my gaming stuff
Fb is for mostly school friends (who I am not too close with)

cross platform video calling is pretty legit on whatsapp. As is being able to text, call, send vid/pics/locations without mobile/cell service via the internets/wifi

What can whatsup do that Hangout can't?

Hangout - mostly use this.
Stock android text app - for texting within the US those that doesn't have hangout.
FB Messenger or Viber - for chatting with friends abroad.

I use iMessage as much as possible. Rich content/linking, iMessage apps etc are GOAT.

Also full size photos and videos, can send slo-mo, 1080p60 etc no problem.

But I use WhatsApp, Hangouts and Allo
Biggest Guy on the Misc (srs). Brb cutting for 10 years to look jacked :P

Ive used it in the past when out of the country to talk to people that don't have iphones but imessage basically serves the exact same purpose.

There is a third group of people who use Apple - People with company provided phones. I have a work provided iPhone and miss Android every time I use my phone (srs). I have an iPhone 7 plus 128 (Apples latest and greatest) and it feels like I went back in time half a decade. I liked the hardware and the OS better on my S5...

Do you think Whatsapp would have grown if the EMEA/UK-IE had unlimited data?

Lets be real tea, the growth of the app is based upon financials. If the growth wasnt financially based it probably wouldnt have grown to the point it has in Europe..

We have a solid basis for the position because the app hasnt grown in areas that have unlimited data....It has nothing to do with the Americans feeling superior. There is no financial driver and not enough technical improvement to drive the apps growth in America.
