When I was working I would usually have to wake up at like 7:30 and I'd be more or less back and settled in at my apartment by 7pm. If I went to the gym that day it would cost me another 2 hours for the gym/commute time (usually like 8-10). I'd stay up past midnight though. It was usually like 3 hours of free time, maybe 4-5 on a day without any gym/errands.

At my next job it's going to be like zero hours with less sleep. At least I'll make 3-4x the money.

I understand what you are saying now, however I think it's a good thing for human being to be given the psychological and philosophical space to be contemplative.

Concern with only survival often leads to tribalism and selfishness - and does, as evidenced by high violent crime and gang related crime rates in poor places.

Are you talking about the teens you went to school with?

Like I presented, research shows that poor people tend to have a higher level of mental illness, in comparison to wealtheir people.

I think you are downplaying the level of violent crime, and theft. that is rampant in poor areas. And how much stress that causes the residents. Apart from violent people themselves, poor people want an end to violent crime in their area, because they worry for their safety and their children.

Middle class people may have work stress, but those neighborhoods don't have the level of violent crime that poor ones do.

I believe that violent cultures tend to develop from circumstances where 'survival' is at the forefront. IME most of the best fighters tend to come from poor backgrounds, they had to learn to be 'tough' to survive the violence of their area, or they learn become good fighters to earn money. Very few world class fighters come from pampered backgrounds IME - a background where the survival instinct was constantly triggered is what most often fuels wanting to be a fighter, IME and IMO.

Finally don't have to come into work anymore.

BRB spend like 80% of your life working until age 67 (where I live).. what a life... not worth it at all. Ruins your mood and interest for actual stuff you enjoy... same boring routine everyday draining your soul.
