Just realized one of the GOAT movies Stand by Me is from a Stephen King film.

Is that supposed to be in the same universe too? It would be weird considering it's not a horror movie

it's all the same universe as far as the books go. the movie adaptations are their own independent worlds.

also another neat thing about the novel is that there are certain parts where the narrative is told thru It's perspective. I hope they do that in the new movie.

It's normally on the top 5 "wtf" moments in popular literature. Highly debated and controversial. King says he did it to show the ending of childhood and the transition into adulthood. I am sure at the time it was some big kumbyyah moment in his head or something. But yeah in reflection it really served no purpose and doesn't live up to reasoning I dont think.

Also among literature snobs Stephen King has the rep for writing amazing books, but poorly executing endings. To the point snobs balk when he has a problem with film adaptations, famously, he doesnt like "The Shining" adaptation even though it's considered one of the best horror films of all time.

Stephen King, as I remember, is a good storyteller from having read a few of his books as a teen. IT was a "masterpiece" it its own right due to the capturing of a good story about kids that got together and bonded over rough periods of their lives. I can't do justice in explaining it, but take my word for it that it is much more than just a horror fantasy.

the turtle is dead by 1985 but alive when they were younger so his adversaries were the grown-up losers club basically. after that, not sure. it's open ended for a reason, I feel.

absolutely 100%. they become so close and become such good friends and king writes the book in such a way that you just feel such empathy when you find the 1 in the book you relate to.

His brilliant stories are so good because of the characters he develops, Roland, Trashy, Randall Flagg, John Coffey and of course The Kid.
