In between the news about Ryzen's launch Intel was very quick with their PR moves with the new refreshed CPUs with a brand new socket which should be out soon and they also stopped with their tick-tock release cycle by speeding up the next big release, which is Coffee Lake if I am not mistaken.

And yes, they haven't had competition so why would they even bother upping the ante on every generation when you can sit still and reap huge benefits while only doing incremental 5%-10% increases in performance.

NZXT Kraken G10 and any AIO you want.
NZXT's own AIOs are quite good, but so are Be quiet! too.

EVGA has their Hybrid coolers out for the 1080 TI, but they're overpriced IMO (like $150).

Every company needs to have short term plan and long term plans to stay viable. But to say that they have no competition is being disingenuous. Would you say that Porsche has no competition because they're the only ones that can make the 911?

The market can be very finicky, and to take a step too far forward to quickly can be a catastrophe. Software has to match hardware and nobody wants to be the first to invest without some guarantee as to what all the others will do first.

We're in the technological age, and new technologies come out everyday. Imagine if someone comes out with a new technology, right after you've made your billion dollar investment? Even major companies have to proceed with caution.

Coffee lake is still going to be 14nm. Intel was supposed to roll out their 10nm platform this year originally but got pushed back to 2018 and now to 2019. Rumor has it that coffee lake will be 6 core / 12 threads though for the mainstream i7 version. Who knows if they were even planning on it before amd put at least some pressure on them. It is crazy that my i7 4790k could last 5 years to 2020 without having to be upgraded. Clock for clock it is only 10% slower than kaby lake 7700k at the most demanding cpu tasks. Lmao. Intel has been so lazy the past 3 years.

I agree with you about the economical theory stuff, but Intel hasn't exactly been pushing the envelope.

Take a look at Samsung. Why on earth would they stress with the 960 series SSDs? They already had the market by the balls, 950 Pro was fast as lightning, 850 Evo/Pro was more than enough for the consumers, it maxed out Sata-3.
Sure some companies are coming after them (Corsair being the only one on the market atm with MP500 series), but they still have the lead by a really good margin in both performance numbers, profits, sales, reliability etc. I haven't heard one bad thing about Samsung SSDs, yet they push the envelope every time they release a new generation of their SSDs.

That really isn't bad considering he doesn't have to do a custom loop. My water block cost $130 alone.

Yeah but as a point of reference the same cooler for the regular 1080 was only $110.

Recently sent in my 1070 to stepup to a 1080 and been having problems with my monitor running on the i5 6600k integrated gfx. It seemed fine at first but then I turned my computer on the other day and the screen just keeps going black over and over again. Sometimes it will work for a bit and then the monitor pops up a messages telling me to use the dual link dvi cable that came with my computer(currently using a dual link dvi). I even tried to switch to an hdmi cable i had laying around and still get the black screen every now and then.

I updated all the drivers on my computer and it didnt help at all. Im hoping when I get my card back it will just fix itself lol

My monitor is an acer gn246hl 1080/144hz

Better if they beat but at least compete by getting close to Ti with competitive pricing. I think if Vega will be around $500-600 and is within 5% of Ti at launch, AMD will be fine. Because AMD drivers usually mature and get better through updates and after a while, they can be on that Ti level.

But I really hope they match Ti at least on release.

Tell me about it... I got my 4670k in 2014 when it was not brand new at all and it still was performing nearly the same as some of the newest chips - only that it didn't overclock QUITE as well.

8 cores ftw. Ryzen is great.

Probably a DP issue. Try HDMI. You won't get the 144hz but it should work until your new 1080 arrives.

Yeah I think I may give that cooler a whirl... With my oc my card sits at like 85 playing battlegrounds and like 73 in Overwatch. I'm not feeling that at all. How easy are those things to install? I'm assuming not too bad.

The nzxt I think. The white bracket on Amazon is pretty juicy looking. I may paint it to match my color scheme. I see the frequent bought together thing on Amazon shows most people going for a corsair h55 or h60 cooler so I'll probably go for that one it's only about 90 bucks together

I did those at one point on my 980ti's. Not too difficult on those.. not sure how the layout of the 1080Ti may make it harder/different though.

Yeah it is crazy. If anyone has a lga 1150 i5, just upgrade to an i7 4790k and you should be set for 2 years. No reason to upgrade before the 10nm architecture.

I got the H75 and the NZXT G10 bracket on a 980Ti. 22 degrees Celsius idle, around 32-36 ingame. Fans on one constant low speed.
You can get the bracket in a multitude of colors.

Gunna go with this combo also I think. And yeah I just realized they have other colors lol derp.

Just Gunna watch some YouTube videos on how to do it. Going to order when I get home so I can mess with it Thursday when I'm off work

Your integrated gpu could be overheating a bit, or your monitor may have a problem. If you didn't have the problem before on your 1070 then it seema likely your monitor is probably ok. Probably the IGP overheating. Since the IGP is part of the cpu, what kind of cpu cooling are you using? What are the temps?

I had a Corsair bracket on my 780 coupled with an H80 (which was overkill), I went with it over the NZXT bracket even though it was for my white H440 case because of VRM coverage. Too bad neither one was updated for the current cards so I went Hybrid.
Me caveman, put round things on bar, lift, pound chest.

Is there a good program to monitor the temp with( Ive tried nzxt cam but it is really buggy and freezes up my computer alot)? I just downloaded open hardware monitor real quick and it shows them around 17-22C. I havent done any gaming or anything just browsing the web and when I was using the dual link dvi it was blacking out on start up just trying to log into windows. I have a kraken x61

Weird. Those are pretty low idle temps.. Shouldn't be overheating then. Tried a driver update or update your motherboard bios? Also, to monitor cpu temps from within windows try SpeedFan.

Finally pulled the trigger on that Samsung quantum dot 24-inch monitor - lol, six months after originally planning to buy it. Newegg has it on sale for $259.

On the laptop front, when the heck are the higher-level Kaby Lake processors supposed to come out? I'm in the market for an ultrabook and wanna get one that has Iris Graphics 650.

Not sure.

I just know that my Dell Latitude 7370 with a 6th gen M7 manages to play 4k movies with no problem.
After using it for a month now - it's everything I've ever wanted in a laptop. The build quality is 10/10.
I thought the touchpad looked "old" by having physical buttons, but seriously it's so smooth and precise I don't think I can go back to a laptop without that.

Does anyone know if this come switch thermal paste ore applied or should I buy some with it?
