Not worth $1400 imo. I had one for a time, I bought it because it was lightly used and $900. I took it out once, and decided I didn't really care for 1911s, so I sold it.

I'm sure it's a good gun, just not my thing. And I wouldn't pay $1400 for one.
I enjoy shooting nice 1911's...but I'm not about to spend the amount of jack myself on one of them. Especially when the round capacity is so low.

I just can't get my head around something that costs me 2 grand and holds 8 rounds.

For 1911s spend a little more get a dan Wesson valor. Best production 1911 before getting in to semi customs like les Baer or Wilson.

STI makes a nice gamer 1911 for a grand.

Trying to think of a cheeky vinyl for my new hardshell AR case. Have a few in mind, but know you *******s are witty as they come.

Leader right now is a nutrition facts label with the only ingredients being freedom and something else, still seciding on the 2nd (possibly 3rd) ingredient.

Also thought of "This is NOT a gun," but the ATF might dislike that one.

Basically if have all of that then I would say get one, they are sweet.

Reason to buy a TRP:
-You have all of your basic self defense weapons and ammo already
-You live behind enemy lines and don't get to enjoy 10+ capacity weapons
-You have a large collection and just enjoy buying all types of weapons
-You are just a 1911 fan due to the controls and your prior experience


If you're limited on budget I would pass until you have a 15+ rd 9mm hd pistol, a CCW single stack pistol, and a quality AR variant.

Have 2 Springfield XDs, a Walther PPQ, and an FNS 9c, plus rifles etc.

I definitely like the black armory kote look of the 1911 TRP and they are pretty highly reviewed. I want a 1911, but I don't want a low end garbage one.

Then the TRP is a great choice.

Wilson Combat mags are sickening mags for 1911s btw.

I bought a couple WC mags. One came with a defective floor plate.

I contacted WC twice through its web site about getting a replacement part. Both of my emails (a week apart) were ignored. I had to buy a pack of three replacements from the WC online store.

I next bought four 8-round Mec-Gars from Greg Cote. They work flawlessly for half the money.

I'm done with Wilson Combat. Poor quality and worse service was my experience.

ETA: I also have a couple 8-round ACT mags that have been exceptional. Also bought from Greg Cote.

I am thinking the same thing. Gunna rent and shoot a VP9 just based off of recommendations here as well as see which I like better. Have always liked the 226 and 229 as well but I feel like if I spent 1k+ on one of them I won't have enough "fun" cash sitting around to build a new AR.

I do that with CGBP because I like suicide grip a lot better for those. Thumb is replaced by the straps. No worrying about crushing my larynx.
