Yes because the little runt that played Avatar Ang was such a big name actor that put asses in seats. I loved him in his previous roles, all of them should have won oscars. I also thought Mark Hammil was the best goddamn actor until he acted in A New Hope, that decision still boggles my mind because wtf why'd he ever downgrade himself to get mixed up in a production like that, not like he gained a ton of notoriety for it.


Also what about the Russo Brothers right lmfao, what was Disney and Marvel thinking of giving The Winter Solider and Civil War to a bunch of hacks that did some chitty romance comedies. They should have given the movies to some proper directors that actually made action movies and made more money because I dont think you, me and dupree was such a big hit.


That's not to say I dont get your point, you make an extremely good point about how Hollywoood, which is a business will still cast people who are noteworthy into roles so that it's a safer bet to get more people to come watch it ... But lets not pretend that Hollywood isnt above casting completely unknowns and giving people chances to shine as well. Look at Dev Patel, who the fuk was that guy lol.. I didnt know him prior to Slumdog Millionaire and now he's a well known actor that's legit great and takes up roles in critically acclaimed movies.

You can still cast unknowns of various ethnic descent for a role and have him be propped up and supported by other well known actors that would still be a safe bet for movie to recoup its costs.


Marvel/Disney and all other movie studios etc have all taken risks on unknown small time actors and directors and have been awarded for taking that risk and giving that person the chance to shine.


To simply just brush it aside as a business decision is just fukkin lazy and shows you how creatively bankrupt you are (I dont mean "YOU" btw lol).

If this is truly just a business decision than please explain to me why Hollywood desperately keeps wanting to make Sam Worthington, Jai Courtney or that other fulla who acted in Battleship, the guy who played Gambit in X-Men origins, happen? those guys are some of the generic and boring actors but yet they kept being given lead roles in big blockbusters because for some reason Hollywood kept trying to make them the next big action star (all these actors did a much better role in subsequent movies with supporting roles)

I'm in the camp that thinks a female thor is retarded, Black Iron Ma..Woman/Maiden is puzzling and a female Wolverine makes no sense because these are characters and not what I consider to be a "mantle" that they can take up and continue on with the legacy.

But the beauty of this is end of the day these are all stories, stories change, stories evolve .. Some for the better, some for the worse. People need to have the creative license to change things up and see what works and what doesnt because it keeps things fresh and gives you a new perspective. It's all about the risks and rewards and you never know if you might actually end up liking it.

When Bruce Wayne died and they had Night Wing take up the role of Batman that was one of my favorite runs and I was sad to see it end because Dick Grayson was such a good Batman and I loved him in the role and would have loved to see him be Batman for a few good years before they brought back Bruce again.
