yeah except people rarely have to use the warranty opposed to the vortex which is commonly sent in for repair. people buy vortex simply for the warranty, people buy swarovski for the quality.

It's ok buddy. You don't know what you're taking about. You can concede at any time now.

Ok, so your $2k scopes are all neat and everything. But battery life aside, are Vortex red dots not as good Aimpoints on a hard use rifle? I used to think people thought they were a solid option, but it sounds like they mean for more of a range toy and not as a "duty optic"* if you will.

*Non combat use, obviously.

Chesapeake Sheriff's Office issued their deputies Bushmaster ARs with Vortex Sparc ARs. I guess their philosophy is that they're going to keep the batteries turned off in the trunk and turn them on if there's an active shooter that they're responding to, rather than leaving them on.

They're choosing to engage a threat that they know exists, so they have some added luxury compared to say, a homeowner being awoken in the middle of the night by a broken window or kicked down door. You're saving ~150 bucks compared to a PRO on sale. Probably a great choice for your 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 100th AR if you're on that Procon time.

I haven't even heard of that, but I see "promag" in that link, so I'm going to take a hard pass unless and until a lot of positive feedback comes down

Just lmao at attempting to chit talk Vortex. At basically any given price range you'd be hard pressed to find a better optic. Need a scope and have a $200 budget? Vortex. $600 budget? Vortex. $2,500+ budget? Vortex. Pretty much same goes for their red dot and prism optics too. The bad ass warranty is just the cherry on top.
