alright dudes who shoot bolt guns. I know nothing about bolt guns. i have a 30-06 that i want to put into a composite stock, can i drop the action into any composite stock or do i have take the action out of my gun now and see what it is first? I see alot for the remington 700, my gun is an imported from england BSA Arms that was given to me many years ago, idk what the action is other than i know its long action.
You would be better off buying a different action really. There are a lot of aftermarket parts out there for 700 actions. If there isn't a compatible aftermarket for the import you would need to have one made which would cost more than a new accurate synthetic rifle out of the box. I have a savage stainless predator in .308 that is a great shooter and what's nice about those is the barrel lug is easily changed to different calibers. You could buy a bolt gun that shoots sub MOA and has syenthitc stock pretty cheap. If your going to start reloading 6mm BR or other cartridges are ballisticaly a little better. I like .308 because I have shot it the most long range and know the ballistics of the loads I use. If your planning to shoot long range though don't buy a short bbl rifle. The longer barrels over the short 16-18" tacticool will have better velocity. I think they lose about 200fps per inch under 24"-26". Varget powder is slow and temperature stable so it's a great longer bb/ heavier bullet weight .308/.223 powder. I shoot benchmark for lighter bullets, it's faster burn rate gets more velocity out of a shorter barrel / lighter bullet.

Wife and kids flew out to AZ for a wedding. Just me and the new pupper for 9 days. Might get some shooting in not sure.

I was finally able to get out and shoot this lil guy over the weekend and I know there has to be more potential to this rifle. First off, the swivel nut adapter comes loose no matter what you do to keep it tight. Any further its going to strip out. So this is making the bipod wobble, creating issues maintaining the target. Second, the stock just does not feel that great as its just the basic stock (whatever it comes with). Third, this rifle hops like a kid in a moon bounce.

So, I'm looking at improving. I'm looking at a manners stock or XLR chassis system. Other recommendations are welcome, but the reviews and price points seem pretty good on either of these (I know AI is even higher cost, but probably one of the best). Either way, I want a stock that accepts the Atlas Bipod without an adapter.

I'm also looking at a better trigger since I've already determined I want to customize this rifle and take full advantage of what it can do.

The biggest thing I'm looking for options on is the brake. The built in brake just doesn't cut it and looks like I'd need a smith to cut it off and thread the barrel. Now, since I want to make this a badazz rifle would you have a smith work the barrel and install a new brake or would you rather rebarrel the rifle with something better through and through?

Let me know what you guys think.
I usually run a KRG Xray and am now running an XLR. I love the XLR so far. Well balanced and the grip setup/adjustability of the cheek-rest is great. AI chassis are good, but heavy. You would also need an adaptor for the bipod as you mentioned.

My favorite brakes (.308/6.5) is the APA lil bastard and the 419 Hellfire (using now). Both require only a threaded muzzle, as you set timing on them and snug the down with a collar nut.

These are what I use.

I only use the shampoo once or twice a week, everyone is different. Use the oil most days, but always after using the shampoo. My facial hair is naturally stiff, hard, and will flake, but using these makes it glorious.

Oh, and their beard wash smells amazing too. Regrowing and only using oils now, I found out the hard way that my trimmer with 10 length settings really only has 2; 5 o'clock short or 10 o'clock Jason Statham short.
Gentlemen's Blend (bourbon) and Cigar Blend (vanilla) are my 2 favorites. I was using oils more when my beard was shorter. Now I'm on about a half Sp3cial time and I'm more using the balms to help try and control it and keep it neat.

I put my clippers on about a 12 guard and trim down with the hair (not up against it) just to help knock back fly aways and then use no guard and free hand it to try and shape it or trim up when necessary.

Nah. Like 17 fps per inch. I'm 169 fps down with 168 fgmm in my new 16.5" compared to my old 26" 700.

I found the data in this article to be very similar to my experience and it's what lead me to do a short barrel. When I add a can, I don't want a 34" barrel setup. My setup with be around 22-23" with the can.

Just started checking out APA's website. I know I'd have to have a smith cut down my barrel and thread it as the pepper pot type brake on mine is part of the barrel. I'm just not sure whether to go that route or get a better barrel (too) with the brake. I think I'm leaning more toward the XLR. I'm glad to hear you like that one.

I thought a few people here ran the mini IWB while appendix carrying and I wanted to know if there was a specific reason why they chose that over the appendix. Maybe I was mistaken thought I'd ask though before buying.

I was seriously going to order one off of the BA site about an hour ago and I got 3 phone calls for work and didn't get back around to it.

Which gas block do you recommend?
Can I use the AR15 barrel nut it lists in the recommended add-ons or do I need to pick up an AR10 version??

This is the real issue. You can (and I have) wear a regular IWB holster in an appendix position comfortably enough, but the angle of the gun is not ideal for optimal draw in that location. Most IWB have a forward cant (tilt) because they're meant to be worn around the 4 oclock position on your body, making them easier to draw from when you reach behind you. When you put that on your front side, that cant points the grip away from your hand, making you need to cock your wrist at weird angles to get a full grip on the gun. A holster made for appendix carry will have no cant or cant to the rear, making it easier to grab it when in front of you.

Wait a month or so, and I can get a Shadow 2 for 1050

scratch both and get a Tanfoglio stock II



but srs ... depends on your location, if your shooting season is weather dependent then loosing a month will take a lot of shooing away from you.

in reality the shadow 2 is 7 oz heavier and a bit longer sight radius but I dont think you will see a difference if you are a class B or C shooter..
