With regards to being disrespectful, no its not. But then again what is or is not disrespectful is really subjective; relatives from India might see it as a bad thing, but as time goes on younger generations replace the old and even Indian people are changing how open they are to other cultures. Yes, eastern countries can get really really racist about this stuff (Korea, Japan, China, India, etc).
But I'm dating a girl who's family lives in the US, and she was raised most of her life here. I met her family a few times and they were extremely nice. I think they would be the more receptive type since they live here, but you never know.
I think when you date non-white people you have to get ready for that tinge of outsider feeling when you meet the family and take part in their culture. Its nothing to be ashamed of IMO, I kinda like it actually. But I haven't had a bad experience so...
anyway, after you have had the curry you won't be leaving in a hurry

Really depends on the family. A lot more Indian families are starting to open up to dating and marrying outside race, especially in the west. But I know some die hard Indian families that won't allow their kids to date outside their caste, let alone race.
I think even a lot of the open-minded ones would still prefer an Indian guy, but they'll accept others if their daughter is happy.
I remember I went to an Indian wedding where the Indian daughter was getting married to a black dude. There was sooo much gossip and stigma, pretty sure the father was embarrassed by the end. A bit sad, but dating outside the culture stigma still exists.

Depends on the family. I dated a few Indian women... With one we had to hide it from her family because they're traditional. With one her family didn't give a fuk. The other I have no idea
