Heyo fellas.

I've been tasked with building a PC for a 10 year old neighbor boy for his birthday.

He is about 95% Minecraft oriented, so I'm sure just about anything will be better than the iPad he currently uses.

That being said, anyone wanna have some fun making a budget build around $400?

So bought an HDMI cable, connected it to the tv and HDMI slot on my dektop computer and now the screen looks like it doesn't fit the monitor and there's no sound, logged in game to see if at least it was fixed and nothing, also I STILL can't open NVIDIA control panel, fuk me sideways.

I'm averaging 60 FPS with almost maxed out graphics now.

That's quite a hard budget.
By throwing in more disks you're going to make it harder for the kid to understand what's happening if he is installing something. Of source the SSD could be changed out with a cheaper one, but I don't think that's where you should save, but given that he's used to an iPad, 128gb hdd might be enough.
You get lots of 128gb SSDs around 52-60 usd.

Hey guys looking to finally build a rig in the next month or two.

It will primarily used for gaming (High-end newer games), photo/video editing, and normal use (Movies, browsing, and etc)

My budget is up to $2000 CAD, and I'm looking to get everything new, including mouses, keyboards, speakers.

I was looking to get a wide screen monitor as well or go Dual.

Can you run 2 GPUs off one 8 pin that splits into 2 6+2's? I needed a PSU that had 6 PCIE connector spots for GPU's and figured the 1200W I bought would have that many but it didnt. It only has 4 but all the cables split into 2 6+2s.

He's young and his parents just asked me to get all the parts and help him build and get it running.

If the cable that came with the PSU goes from a single plug at one end to 2x plugs then they are both fine to use. Plenty do that since they can just use slightly thicker wire to save having two separate runs to the same graphics card, so yours supports 4 cards with up to dual 8 pins, or 8 plugs in total.

So this past week I've been thinking about upgrading my 10 year old rig, was cruising through a local buy and sell ******** group and came upon this STEAL of a deal, instantly jumped on it after looking up the parts online. The i9-7900X will be interesting. If the price is right it would make for a very good gaming/editing rig centerpiece.

Going nuts on cooling usually brings the i7-7700K to 5.0ghz so if the same cooling brings the i9-7900X to 4.8ghz (betting 5+ is impossible) the trade of 200mhz for more than double the cores is an easy choice, price dependent obviously.

The only real downside (unless the price sucks) is that the quad channel memory wont help gaming much if at all.
Eat in a deficit to lose weight.
Hit your protein and fat minimums to stay healthy and keep your gainz.
Lift heavy and do HIIT to look and feel awesome.
Use the internet to learn why you should do these things and how to do these things.

I will be building in late July/early August and that is the CPU that has my attention as well. Motherboards should be mature enough by then. Cant wait to see what liquid cooling gets out of these chips.

Care to elaborate why you find the 7820x more appealing than a R7 1700 - 1800X?
Is it because of the underlying core complex structure of the Ryzen CPUs?

It'd be cool a fukc if GPU manufacturers would start doing dual GPU cards more commonly. I'd happily run ITX and have a small, unobtrusive case if I didn't have to sacrifice the power SLI offers.

I'm in the market for a 37" monitor for gaming and internet use mainly. I'm not sure I wanna go the 4k route yet, and I wanna keep it budget friendly since I will upgrade to 4k once there is more content for it.

Any recommendations?

Yes, you can safely go 4k at this point. Especially if its your main monitor. No need to consider buying something lower unless it's a secondary monitor.

Not sure if answered already but are you sure your monitor is connected to your GPU port and not on the hdmi on your board since that's going to be the integrated GPU.

Wow, watched the whole AMD thing. At the end they just say VEGA end of july. Lulz.

They did say all of the threadrippers will have 64 pci e lanes though.
