Black people don't care that you have black friends, this is normally a given when we see you hanging out because you'll be around black people more often than not and you won't look like an outcast.

Just because you have black friends doesn't mean you're not a racist.

Even if you're racist, accepting that and moving on with your life is so much better than trying to prove otherwise to people who don't give a **** tbh.

Dont need to... I know who I am and feel the same way about certain subsets of white people too. This isn't about skin color. This is about predominate cultural behavior patterns. I am not racist. Sure you could make a case that I am culturalist/bigoted whatever, but it is not about what you look like it is about how you act.

My black friends are usually isolated from their own race because they made smart decisions on pursuing an education. Yet on the way to success they had to cut against the grain from their own social group to get there. Now they get chit for "talking white", "Acting white".

Bro you don't need to tiptoe around black people they are just humans like everyone else.

It's people that are scared of other races that think everything is racist. I completely agree with what you said. White, asian, etc all these cultures respect "being successful". But I don't think that hood mentality is "black culture" as such. It's hood culture. In the crappy ends where I've been, everyone has that mentality, white black brown etc.
It's more of a problem when certain individuals tie that to their skin colour because they want to find an identity when they are growing up broke or rough.
There are people of all mentalities of all colours.
Me and my mates all make racist jokes about each other because we are friends and we know we aren't racist. I think like chapelle said, if we laugh at these barriers it will break them down.

I usually base my greeting off of how others react. If i see them kind of bringing their hand back Ill just lay the dap on em. This way I go in for daps for people who look like they most likely dap and handshake other dudes. Worked out so far for me

I don't tip toe... I don't really give a chit to be honest. Not my problem. I just found the interaction between my black bros and their race to be a very interesting, but self destructive cycle.

You are also right that growing up broke or rough does promote a higher likelihood of substandard behaviors. However, most other races don't pull down the people trying to get out. At least directly.

They do though to a certain extent. I used to teach college kids that were young offenders or on tag etc. All races even white had that shared hood mentality. Except on blacks had actual terms for it like Oreo etc.
Fuked up thing is even the ones that wanted to try hard to get a qualification felt embarrassed to do so.
The other fuked up thing is some black teachers looked at the black students as scum and didn't want to help them.

definitely one of the highlights of being lightskinned. the state where I live is like 95% white I think...never normal handshakes. always daps and everyone does the head nod "what up" when they see me whether I know them or not

another is when im walking in a parking lot and a car coming by turns up their rap music to appeal. i love life man lmao

I know when im at a social gathering and see a african american i always make it a point to fist bump him and ask about the latest 2pac song or tell him how disappointed i am that their is no fried chicken or watermelon at the bbq.

I just do it so he wont rob me later or something. I do the same thing to mexicans but usually ask them about taco bell or some type of labor work i might need done.
