So, to get a +5 ring, you'd need a minimum of 5 rings, but the % chance to succeed gets crappier with each upgrade, and it's crappy to begin with. It should not even be possible (or so close to impossible as to be indiscernible) to get a +5 Ogre Ring, yet I've seen plenty of them on the market (or +3's and 4's, which are still stupid). These items are basically god items which give you huge AP bonuses, and the price for one on the market? About 2.5 Billion silver (an equally insurmountable task to acquire as the ring itself). The same goes for a lot of other items. Even the Witches' earrings, which aren't nearly as rare as the Ogre ring still takes hours and hours of farming to get even 1. I farmed for about 20 hours and got 1. I had to buy the other one for ~8 million silver because looting them was basically impossible. Yet, I see the same people (you get a notification on the top of the screen when someone in your area loots a rare item) getting like 10 an hour.

Because certain players are clearly cheating via this looting of extremely rare **** and combining it into even more rare ****, that gives them insane stats. It totally unbalances PVP, and makes some players basically impossible to kill (if someone's DP is significantly higher than your AP, you can't hurt them). 2 friends of mine, and myself all quit the game because of this nonsense.
So....did you like it?

Rip rushed platform. Rip consumers. Rip Intel.
Buying a Skylake X is harsher than this video. Intel should be ashamed. Harsh is spending a thousand bucks on an X299 chip, then looking back at the 3820, and realizing that they offered quad channel and 40 lanes on a 4c/8t processor with a current-dollar price in line with a 7700K. The moment of realization that Intel spent the past 2 generations gutting their entire HEDT lineup of bells and whistles that don't dig into their bottom line, in order to make a huge product spread and make thousand dollar upsells on X299.

Even harsher is having to delid a thousand dollar CPU because Intel used TIM in order to save ~8 bucks. Indium's not much. It's been used in 50 dollar Celerons 10 years ago. It's not much. It's not even a conspiracy theory - they know everyone's delidding, that's why they used TIM. They're banking on their customers ****ing up. It's ****ing disgusting. 50 dollars and soldered IHS - I really mean it, anyone who ****s up delidding one of these things, you're someone's pat on the back. Someone's good idea. Intel's laughing about you. Go back to the store, throw some good money after bad, you already have the board.

Yeah, what is that? Dlc for consumer hardware? And locking the new nvme technology so that it can only be used by their subpar nvme SSDs? What are they thinking?

And the i7s on the new platform is straight out ridiculous. Pay premium for mainboard and you get 100 MHz more clock and 16 pci lanes. Better off buying the 7700K if you want to touch Intel ever again.

Honestly it looks like intel is throwing in the towel to threadripper and trying to make a couple bucks where they can even if it means flat out ripping people off. They know they can get away with it as long as their next gen is decent. I just hope AMD can push them again next gen so we can really see intel struggle. That's when we might see some real innovation.

I like to be competitive, I used to play Lineage 2 private high to mid rate servers off and on for like 10 years, and I was always among the top players, the only thing that turns me off about BDO is that it looks like in order to be competitive you have to sink in way too much time in the game, more than I'm willing to or have time for.

It's all about the gear, and since it's impossible to get the gear some people have without (in my opinion) cheating, the game is dead to me.

Well one of my 480s already crapped out on me, figures. I have 4 of them that are samsung memory and this piece of **** has hynix. Are they known to be trash? I noticed even when I was trying to ovclock my cards this one wouldnt even get remotely close to the others. If it gets any high load it just crashes or with a slight load like the overwatch menu it has black squares all over the screen and certain spots are bugging out.

Hynix is pretty cheap compared to Samsung yeah. Is it under warranty?

What brand has Samsung and what has Hynix? I used to have hynix vram with Nvidia cards on all my alienware laptops in the past and actually during that time, they are the best vram for mobile devices especially for OC. I have no idea about how they do on desktops though.

Question, do you know if different cards will work on a single setup?
Like for example, can I combine a 1x 295X2 and 2x 290 on one rig? The mining program reads my card (295x2) basically as 2x 290x though. So it will be like 290x, 290x, 290, 290 setup. Will it work like that?

I'm currently mining on Alpereum pool with qtminer and lol it was low 60s outside and my room's temp is 74C. I had to turn on the AC at night as my wife is complaining lol. And that's just my 295.

All my cards are MSI Gaming X. The 4 samsung ones were way better but this hynix was probably just defective from the start.

Mixing cards should be fine I was running 5 480s and a 470. Im not sure what qt miner is though as Ive only used claymore for eth/sia/lbry and then i recently tried ccminer on my 1080 for DGB. I dont have a thermometer in my small office but I wouldnt doubt its atleast 80 in there lol. I need to route an ethernet cable to my garage but im too lazy right now.

Since all AMD cards are out of stock. I am planning for this:
1. Get my son's 295X2 and replace it with a 1080. He's ok with it.
2. 2 younger boys have a 290 each and planning to replace their cards with a 1060.

So I can have a setup with 2x 295X2 and 2x 290 which is same as 4x 290x and 2x 290.
But that will be 1550W of TDP lol! I have to put this out of my room if I go on with this.

Edit:
Comparing that to a 150W RX 480, that setup I think is not practical. Maybe I should wait for 480 availability
6x 480 is just 900W.

Does anyone have a clear understanding of the VROC RAID issue on X299? I get that VROC is crippled in multiple ways (Intel SSD only for boot, key to activate more than RAID 0....) but is this an additional RAID option or a replacement for the way things used to work?

Sure its stupid but I don't actually care as long as I can still setup a regular RAID 1 array on 2 Samsung m.2 drives and then install Windows on it.

holy **** 1550W. Ya my whole rig with the 6 cards was only pulling 850w from the wall solo mining ETH. What PSU would you even use for that or would you try to rig up 2. I can only imagine the heat that thing would be kicking out.

I think we can power them using 2 PSUs since the parts are exposed anyway. Its still actually profitable but I dont think I can handle that much heat especially when summer comes. Would have worked during the winter though. Would have saved me some gas expenses lol!

I wonder when stocks for AMD cards will come back.

Everything I am reading makes this sound like a direct replacement and that (at this moment at least) there wont be any way to boot from RAID unless the NVMe drives are Intel branded.

Hey guys. I'm thinking to drop a bit of money upgrading my computer and I'm hoping you guys can tell me what I should be prioritizing.

My computer:
Intel Core i5 2500
ASUSTeK P8P67 REV 3.1 motherboard
16 Gb DDR3 memory
GTX 960
2 TB HDD
.5 TB SSD

Probably looking to spend between $500 and $1000. I appreciate any input you guys have.

EDIT: I should probably explain my usage. I game a bit but don't care much about ultra quality or anything as long as it runs smoothly.

Do prebuilts usually have a special gpu that the manufacture gets to cut down on costs? This guy on CL is trying to sell this 480 out of his HP computer that is a single fan mini I've never seen before. Doesnt have any sort of markings to distinguish who its made by or look like anything you can buy. Hes trying to get $325 for it lol. Im not interested in the slightest but made me curious what they are putting in these prebuilts people buy.

is there something your current rig can't do? If you don't care about high quality gaming much, your existing rig seems ok. If you wanted a bit more gaming performance, you could get a GTX 1060 or RX480/580 (although those are basically impossible to get right now thanks to all the Ethereum and Bitcoin miners). For ~$240 you'd gain a fair amount of GPU horsepower over your GTX 960. If you got a 1070 (for ~$380) you'd be all set for a while. Is your CPU a 2500k or just the regular 2500? If it's a 2500k, OC it and you're golden. If you're dying to blow $1000, get the 1070, and upgrade your CPU, MB and RAM to a modern i5 7600k & DDR4 memory. You'd be good for a few years with that setup.

I wouldn't trust either company right now

With old gcc versions and distros compiled with old gcc versions, is it not?

Found a thread.
https://linustechtips.com/main/topic...c-linux-loads/

There is a hardware bug that has been found, yet to be fixed. Wont affect normal users tho as it's an edge case.

And a third edit:
What does this have to do with trust?
They release a new architecture and there are found 3 bugs so far - AVX, memory and this segfault error (due to their brand new hyperthreading where an IRET isn't returning correctly as one thread ends up halting and thus causes destabilization.Link to post talking about this).
I wouldn't say they have breached any trust so far as it's to be expected with a new arch.

I would feel that way for Intel but not for AMD.
AMD took their chances in introducing a new tech so bugs are meant to happen. They will surely fix whatever it is like how they are fixing the ram speed issues.

Fuk all these greedy companies, if it wasn't for profits we probably would've terraformed and colonized Mars by now.

If it wasn't for profits, nobody working for these "greedy" companies would make jack squat for a living, thus having no incentive to work hard/innovate, and we'd be living in the 50's, at best.

That said, Intel has lost their minds with their current pricing scheme.

Wow. Rip.
Seriously.
Wait... so basically AMD CPUs are manufactured independently and then added onto the infinity fabric, while the Intel ones are manufactured in a block, so if one fails that's it. Therefore using AMD's process, the cost of production scales linearly with cores, while Intel's price scales exponentially. So even if AMD cores are slower than Intel's, they can offer more cores at a fraction of the cost. Smart.
Not just if one 'fails', they can match silicon with like silicon. With intels method, you have, say, 15 cores that can run at 3.2ghz while 9 can only run at 2.8ghz, tough titties the entire CPU now runs at 2.8ghz unless you want to accept a massive loss and sell a 14 core 3.2ghz CPU. With AMD, that never happens. They build 10x 8-core clusters/complexes, 3x of them run at 3.2ghz, 4x of them at 3.1ghz wile the last 3 run at 2.8ghz. Take the 3x that run at 3.2ghz and build a 24 core, take 4x to make a 32 core at 3.1ghz and selectively disable cores on the last 3 to make a 3ghz 20 core. AMD can use so much more of what they end up with it's incredible. They could build a 24 core CPU running at the same clock speeds of intels best xeon out of their literal scraps. Take the **** clusters, build a 4x cluster CPU and disable 8 of the hotter cores, and then sell it for whatever they want because those were going to the bin otherwise.
