Reading through this thread again…..
As a white guy, I honestly think a lot of white people are pretty ignorant on anything having to do with the state of black people in the United States in general.
Your stubborn ways is what's keeping the SJW movement alive…. most of the black dudes in this thread who responded, did so in reasonable, non aggressive way and you STILL shat on them. This "it's not us… it's you!" mentality is never going to work.

If we are going to move forward as a society we need to address and remove certain sociological myths because they don't help anybody and they just cause division between races, genders and classes.
And with that I am out of this thread.

I was using it as an analogy to show you why its hypocriticial. It has nothing to do with 'secret words' and everything to do with excluding someone from something based on their race.

I hate to sound all SJW, but given the history of the word, yes you should be allowed to say it but you should respectfully choose NOT to say it because you know how much it bothers black people. So, why not just show a little restraint and just not say it? If you DO say it, fine, but don't expect black people not to grill you for it, because they have every right to. You know the history of the word and the history of this country. For black people to just give you all the OK to say it how you please = black people cucking themselves to white America.
If you can actually look at things from their perspective (I don't think most of you can), then you can't really say they're wrong on this.

It is interesting that those from the civil rights generation (like Oprah, Whoopie, Morgan Freeman) tend to be against the usage by anyone and don't seem to appreciate the slang usage common today.

Interesting NYTimes article from 1993 i found...
http://www.nytimes.com/1993/01/24/ny...pagewanted=all
Some blacks, mostly young people, argue that their open use of the word will eventually demystify it, strip it of its racist meaning. They liken it to the way some homosexuals have started referring to themselves as "queers" in a defiant slap at an old slur.
....
Kris Parker, a leading rap artist known as KRS-One, predicts that through black culture's ability to affect popular American culture through the electronic media, "******" will be de-racialized by its broader use and become just another word. Meaning in America
"In another 5 to 10 years, you're going to see youth in elementary school spelling it out in their vocabulary tests," he said. "It's going to be that accepted by the society."
But other blacks, especially members of the generation for whom Malcolm X and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were living heroes, say no one should ever be permitted to forget what "******" has meant, and still means, in America.
"That term encapsulates so much of the indignities forced on our people," said the Rev. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr., a longtime civil-rights leader who is executive director of the United Church of Christ Commission for Racial Justice. "That term made us less than human, and that is why we must reject the usage of that term.
"We cannot let that term be trivialized," he said. "We cannot let that term be taken out of its historical context."
In the context of the article above you would think Bill Maher is helping the post civil rights generation in their agenda.....

Then you have the thoughts of the people that lived through it that seem completely against the usage.
BB.com auto filter seems to indicate that it hasn't been de-racialized.

The N word has been used since the slavery days amongst the slaves themselves. Teens in school didnt start using it themselves out of the blue.

Not hard to understand, you can be saying stuff about your own mother but as soon as someone else says something you're offended. I assume most of you know when someone is trashing their own family not to jump right in.
On the other hand if you don't want people talking about your mama, you probably shouldn't start up the topic either.

Your stubborn ways is what's keeping the SJW movement alive…. most of the black dudes in this thread who responded, did so in reasonable, non aggressive way and you STILL shat on them. This "it's not us… it's you!" mentality is never going to work.

More division leads to greater anger and animosity which builds to revolution/civil war. I have no problem with this.
