Are American adults fat because they eat (a mostly junk) breakfast?

I know many people are hungry first thing in the morning (I can't relate, I could go without food for hours) but these people could spare themselves 500-1000+ cals daily if they skipped breakfast and just waited to start eating at lunch time. Skipping breakfast seems like a simple way for most people who can't commit to diet/exercise to lose weight.

Another reason why I hate coffee, since it can make people nauseous if taken on an empty stomach, it forces coffee addicts to eat and stay fat

Skipping breakfast is horrible for weight loss/weight control. People will either snack or eat a bigger lunch.

Also, have you ever seen a Full English Breakfast? I'm surprised everyone there isn't fatter than in the US.

Prob not, most of the breakfast gets burned off quickly, its eating 4000 calories a day, esp eating crap at night before bed. Plus not exercising

Coffee curbs my appetite pretty drastically. I drink nothing but black coffee until noon. No breakfast.

most fat people do not eat breakfast at all.

A full english is a rare treat here. (I love a full english.)

Noone I have ever known eats that daily.

Most people just eat cereal. (Since having stomach issues, I literally eat full meals for breakfast. Chicken, sweet potatoes and carrots.)

The obesity is probably due to consuming mostly processed foods and drinks.

I dunno man I'm pretty cut and I never eat breakfast.

Brb pancakes, donuts, bagels, pastries smothered in sugary chit.... "derp most important meal"

I think it's moreso the quality, not the fact that they eat. Oatmeal + bacon or something would be solid. french toast floating in syrup and butter? Just lol.

I'd say the main culprits are sugary everythin, laziness, and lack of discipline. There's a stigma that eating healthy is expensive but really you could feed a family of four with items from the produce and meat sections of the grocery store for $15-20/ day.

Stupid. Not eating breakfast and eating around 1-2pm is GOAT. Breakfast is probably the WORST meal to eat for weight loss

Our food is cheap and our portions are massive.

if you go to some random chinese restaurant in the US you'll get a massive dinner plate sized helping of rice and MSG infused chicken/beef/pork, and becasue the food is in front of you there's this incentive to want to finish it in one sitting. These are unfortunately meals that can feed a family of 3 in the eyes of the rest of the world.......and thats just lunch. you also have to factor in 99cent liter bottles of soda and large bags of chips as a snack and then probably some super heavy calorie dense oily pasta dish (pizza/spaghetti/lasagna) for dinner.

coupled with a sedentary job and you're gonna gain weight quick.

Yup. Exactly. Cut that out and they'd lose a pound and a half a week by changing literally nothing else.

They're fat because aside from gym class most of them never get any exercise in their lives.

Your body starts turning effictively into mush instead of a calorie burning machine.

More exercise = more muscle = more calories burned and better insulin response.

Diet as well but you can be in decent shape eating McDonald's if you exercise regularly.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

Calories in / calories out

Fat people eat more calories then they burn.

Metabolism, genetics etc might make your maintenance level higher or lower but that is it.

Portions
Going out to eat a lot
Not exercising
Not giving a phuk until they're drastically overweight
Sugary drinks
Not knowing how to properly diet

Dieting is very easy if you count Cals, don't go out to eat too often, cut out calorie filled drinks, and eat somewhat healthy home cooked foods
