If the seller doesn't provide the information, just buy it and take a look at the sticker on the backplate.

Then go here and check the warranty on the card:https://www.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp. It will tell you how many days are left on the warranty for that specific card.

Such is the life of an ultra book. The thin and lightness will always come with some compromises but you're still getting an incredibly power and competent gaming notebook in a wafer thin package.

Now if you want/need more storage you'll have to go bigger. You'll also have to open up your pocketbook a bit more too. Good news is that there are many capable gaming choices these days from MSI, Razer, Dell and others.

Well, the Sager NP8157 is about 5 lbs and comes with an m.2 slot and a 1tb HDD. Plus a 120 hz gsync screen or 4k for an extra $125.

Asus ROG GL502 is also 5 lbs with an m.2 and 1tb HDD. 120 hz screen as well. Both are gonna be well over $1000 cheaper than the 1080 laptop. I need the storage and I dont necessarily see that a 1080 is going to be that much better to warrant sacrificing elsewhere. Plus the price point for that 1080 Asus is rumored over $3000.

Pulled trigger on that 1080 for 550 CAD, which is 415USD. It's not refurbished and 915 days left on the warranty, dasitmane.

When purchasing agaminglaptop always, always, always, get the biggest, most powerful graphic card you can afford. This is the thing that will show its age first and what you will always wish you had more power from down the line. The 1080 should comfortably handle all current games at 1080 maxed out.

Any video editors in here?

I am looking to build a new rig since my old pc is about 8 years old.. I was going to go with a ryzen 1700 or 1800 build but I think I may hold off for Threadripper.

Ideally video editing (moving towards 4k rendering) and some light gaming, PUBG, league, maybe others

budget is around 2.5-3k

Threadripper 16c
Not sure on Mobo
32gb Ram
SSD
1080Ti

Should I get more RAM? Will the 1080ti be overkill? Should I just get a 1060/1070 and wait for Vega?

Nothing wrong with that setup. What monitor are you running and are you going to be upgrading in the future for your monitor? 1080ti is overkill for 1080p, but you will never have a problem running any games on ultra.

Well if you want more editing then I would look for a 4K monitor. Acer/Asus has some nice ones as well as Dell.

Would it be more optimal? Funny story I technically didn't build this, I got it for a steal off a local buy and sell ******** group. Buddy was leaving the country and needed all the money he could get. It was only built in February and all the warranties are in tact should something happen.

Paid roughly 1450-1500 USD for this entire setup, was able to sell most of my old rig to recoup some money also.

If you can game with it, you can edit with it, the engines are virtually the same. The only major difference are the peripherals, chiefly the monitor, ports, etc. Unlike the 120hz + TN panels suitable for gaming, the best editing requires a good color accurate IPS panel.

If you're asking me - it would be because you'd buy a gaming monitor with often worse colors (smaller color space) than a content creation monitor like professional Dell/LG/HP/Eizo/ASUS monitors.

As Krane mentioned - usually gaming monitors have worse panels than these highly accurate (IPS) monitors with very high color spaces.
Professional monitors often have very high input lag too. Often 5-8 ms input delay.

You could also just go look for a monitor you'd like with e.g. 100% Adobe RGB:

I don't plan on upgrading my 30" Dell IPS. I usually use it at 40-50% brightness, so the backlight's still in very good shape.
Lol ^^.

I always use 0% backlight because I find almost all monitors too bright. I also couple that with f.lux or the integrated night lightning (on win 10) running 24/7.
And still, 6000-10000 hours are quite a lot, even for power users.

QDot kind of fall into that category. Great color accuracy like OLEDs and 1ms refresh rate just like TN panels.

Just ordered this from a local PC company for $618 (that includes taxes):

I figure I may do some Litecoin mining with it, or just sell the RX 480 for like $400 and put a 1070 in it, then sell the whole machine eventually for more than I paid.

Seemed like a good way to get my hands on a RX 480 for cheap. If I just sold the card, I'd have a full working PC for $200 (since the i5 should have an IGP) that could be used as an HTPC, a NAS, or whatever.

That's really cheap considering the price of AMD card today but you would have to spend about $500+ now to get a 1070.
The EVGA 1070 Superclocked I got from Bestbuy last week for $399 is now selling in Amazon from a 3rd party for $699.

Its crazy! I now regret not getting 2 of those 1070 last week since I'm gonna be without a card when I transfer my GPU to the mining rig.

Yeah, that curved 27" Samsung have 125% sRGB and 87% Adobe RGB. (+ Freesync + 144 Hz + 1 ms response time).
